mine did that too. Its the central junction box. its the one thing ford overlooks. they had to hook a "heart monitor" up to mine and had one of thier mechanics drive it for a week til it miraculously died on him, they hit record on this machine and found the problem. Good Luck.
Go to Ford Mercury Paint Peeling on Facebook, Lemon law.com or the Zestar corporation website. There you will find everything you need to sue Ford. With a little effort and a little help from the sites above, you will win in court. I have an 08 Expedition that has paint falling off the aluminum. I sued and received 5k in damages. What ever you do don't let Ford fix it without ... Read More
Have Ford supply the thickness data associated with your vehicle. If told its not available, request a factory representative to take paint thickness measurements of the roof. Thin paint will peel and cause rusting. Consumers have been having their new and pre-owned vehicles repainted by Ford outside the warranty period.
I have a 2007 ford expedition eddie bauer EL and the roof is rusted in 4 spots in the grooves, and i noticed this after a car wash and the water was dripping inside the cab, took it to a ford dealer here in league city and was told it was out of warrienty and was prob. caused by rock chips and leaving car out in the rain???????
Well - I took my in to have it looked at as you could spend thousands of dollars trying all of the stuff on the forum only to find out that both cats were so plugged that air is coming out of my motor. I just purchased this 2004 Ford Expedition with 168,000 miles (highway) older couple who religiously brought in for every appointment as the manual directed. The last couple of days it was stalling more and more...no warning, stuttering, or anything. Today I drove about 100 ... Read More
I am wondering if anyone out there can enlighten me on the latest Ford recalls for the F-150 pickups and why the Expeditions are not included? The 2004 F-150s were recalled for faulty air bags but not the 2004 Expeditions. Both have identical steering wheels/interiors and I would assume use the same air bags. Now the gas tank straps on the 2004 F-150 are being recalled for excessive corrosion but not ... Read More
Nice video, I have a 2004 Expedition XLT with 121000 miles on it but have only owned it for a year. My 2008 Expedition Story...I bought it new in August 2008 with an extended 100,000 mile warranty and it’s been a pretty good vehicle when the windows work. In August 2010 I was having some work done and the mechanic made a comment about some corrosion under the rear license plate bracket. It was about the size ... Read More
Does the passenger window control work? I had a similar problem in my 2004 Expedition where the driver's controls wouldn't work for the rear driver's side passenger window, but I could control the window from the passenger's controls. Be happy they will pay 50%. My 2004 EXP XLT with 113,000 the truck just stopped going one day with no warning would not take off from a stop sign. Bearing failure within transmission gearset cost $2800 for a full rebuild. At least I now have 75,000 miles in which to destroy it again and get a free (ha ha) rebuild. Than it will only be $1400 per transmission.
I have the same bubbling, peeling paint on my 2004 Expedition. Ford will do nothing. Watch this link from the FOX station in Kansas City regarding the problem. I can't believe the rust problems with my Expedition. I don't consider a 5-6 year old low mileage vehicle that "old" in this day and age.... I can stick my hands up through the rockers on my truck. Hi there, I've just bought a 2007 Expedition EL with delivery miles on the clock (a long story, but basically it's been standing for 3 years and I got a risky bargain). I have a 2004 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer. The AdvancedTrack System light is on and it is stalling or seems like it is slipping as I drive down the road. Shelf life for tires can be as low as 5 years and "accurately predicting the serviceable life of any specific tire in advance is not possible." You could decipher the DOT code on the sidewall of the tire and learn when it was manufactured - maybe they are older than you think. (Uniroyal link)
I would doubt dry rot at 3 years old - if you have air leaking through the sidewalls, maybe you do. Otherwise I don't think so....

Frankly it even sounds a tad louder than my 05 F-150 if thats possible. Of course Im still trying to figure out why my $30k F-150 Lariat 2x4 has power seats for driver AND passenger and ... Read More
I had a 2003 Expedition that had the spring clip repair and all went well. Then later the rear end went out and I traded it for a 2004. Got a good enough deal due to closeout price and rebates to get back to where I was when I bought the 2003 new. Much happier with 2004 due to newer 4R75W transmission's performance (especially the downshifts) and less quick steering ratio ... Read More
I have a 2004 Ford Escape with 25,000 miles on it. At the turn of 25,000 miles, the brake light came on. My brake shop told me that my pads were worn and the front rotors were warped and had to be replaced. They also told me that front rotors shouldn't need to be replaced this early! I believe that Ford Motor Co. has known this for years on most of ... Read More
As a 2003 Expedition owner, we have experienced this problem first hand and at only 17,000 miles!!!!!. I can't believe how many messages there are for 2003 Expedition brake problems, i.e. brake dust, pad problems, squeaking, whining, stopping problems, etc - I've just reviewed. I must say this info was helpful in just negotiating with the dealer (threatening would be more apropos). I could write a book on our experience- we ... Read More
Don't panic too much about that 150 ft-lbs. Ford service bulletin Article #03-22-4 says that all 2000 - 2004 F-150s equipped with 7 stud wheels and all Expeditions built after 11/27/99 use an increased thread stud/nut diameter from 12 mm to 14mm. The 14mm uses a 21mm socket and get torqued to 150 ft-lbs while the old 12 mm still gets torqued to 100 ft-lbs. I freaked also the first time ... Read More
from what i understand they get about 1 or 2 miles more on the 2005 with the 300HP
Think most all of us who have had the Contirac TR on late model Expeditions have had our share of similar problems. I contacted Continental in Charlotte, NC to complain about another batch of their "lumpy bumpy old things" on my 2004 Expedition. I got a voice mail from some nice lady about how wonderful their tires are and expression of concern I (more correctly they were having) was having problems. ... Read More
It worked out that we have had several new Fords the last few years (due to wife's accident, etc.) I have found that it is nearly impossible to remove the oil filter on 4.6 and 5.4 engines at home. (I usually pick up the excellent 5W-20 synthetic blend Motorcraft oil at Wal-Mart and change my own and recycle the used). When I was ready to change the first time on my ... Read More
Tourguide I have been on for a while now, but it is ironic that I had the same thought that the shop manager might just be putting me off. I too like the Explorer quad seat option. In general I have been thinking about trading my my 2004 Expedition NBX for something for wife and start driving her 2003 V-8, 4wd, XLT. Then I work and drive the Expedition ... Read More
Correction I had my Expediton model years of 2003 and early 2004 correct, but I was one calendar year off in the opening paragraph. I got the ceramic pads date off the Job 2 Ford Ordering Guide which would have published somewhere around Nov, Dec 03. They could have been available later in 2004? It got the information about more noise with Ford ceramic pads on Expedition directly ... Read More
The Ford Expeition brake pads were changed to some ceramic version at Job 2 date (say around 12/04) for the 2005 Expedition models. Local Ford dealer shop manager says the downside of the new ceramic pads is more brake noise. He said Ford would not replace mine with the cermaic type at no charge. At least one Edmunds post earlier said the Ford dealer replaced his pads with Ford Job 2 ... Read More
