Review of the 2004 Ford Expedition

  • Roomy on the inside and agile out on the road, the Expedition is a solid choice among full-size SUVs.

  • Safety
  • Pros

Well thought-out interior with plenty of room for passengers and their belongings, handy fold-flat third-row seat, impressive handling for its size, great crash test scores.

  • Cons

Needs more power, ride quality suffers on rough roads.

  • What's New for 2004

Redesigned last year, the Expedition offers few changes for 2004. Option packages and trim levels have been slightly revised, and in some cases, renamed. The XLS replaces last year's XLT Value trim level, while a new NBX trim level replaces the FX4 off-road package. And there is now an XLT Sport trim level. A tire-pressure monitoring system is now standard on XLT, XLT Sport and Eddie Bauer, while the previously standard limited-slip rear axle is now an option.

Awsome truck

Vehicle: 2004 Ford Expedition XLT Sport Rwd 4dr SUV (4.6L 8cyl 4A)

The interior has a lot of room. Even with the large console in the middle I have a lot of hip room. The leg room is awsome. The ride is ultra smooth. The only negative if nay is the gas milage is mid average, but with even the smaller v8 I have plenty of power. The cockpit is also very quiet, not a lot of road noise. One of the best vehicles by far I have ever owned.

Many positive comments

Vehicle: 2004 Ford Expedition XLT Sport Rwd 4dr SUV (4.6L 8cyl 4A)

I receive more favorable comments on this vehicle (XLT Sport, black w/grey trim) than any I've owned. Handles great, third-row seat is much more comfortable and functional than previous Expedition models, interior styling is much improved. Overall, very pleased with my new ride.

We bought the new Expidition after getting sick of our Hummer. Although it isn't as fast it gets twice the gass mileage and rides nearly the same. We got a totally base Expition for $25,000. Less than half of our hummer. The Hummer isn't worht the money and the expition is just a basic navigator, it rides just as well.
