When is the last time you replaced the battery? A good battery's output should be around 14V.
Good morning, 2001 Ford Expedition I left the lights on and the battery was dead. I jumped the vehicle and it started right up. When I disconnected the jumper cable, the vehicle died. I reconnected the cable and it will not turn over. No ignition, no lights, no horn. I let it charge for a few minutes before I disconnected the cable again. Battery output is at about 9V. I have ... I'm guessing at the IAC as the culprit for your idel issue and it is easy to replace so it seems like a good place to start. Two ways to fix the blend door, the Ford way which is to remove the dash and put ... Read More

Have to disagree with you on your last comment; I've owned three Expeditions (2001 EB, 2003 EB & now 2011) and have enjoyed each of them.
The issue with the front vents is likely a vacuum leak. There are vacuum hoses that run under the battery tray and they tend to get corroded and leak. The rear is likely a broken blend door actuator. The gear in the actuator that moves the blend door is plastic and breaks. $50 part, depending on how flexible you are it could be a 15 minute fix or a two hour ... Read More

Does anyone know when the expedition is scheduled for a body style change? I'm planning to buy an one next year. I bought a 2001 explorer and my dealer didn't tell me about the 2002 model. I would have waited the 4 months for the new body style. I don't want this to happen again
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced Tuesday it has launched an investigation to determine whether an estimated 437,000 Ford Expeditions have a defective part -- one designed to keep the sport utility vehicle from rolling over. http://www.cnn.com/2001/US/09/04/ford.expeditions/index.html
Though this is an Expedition discussion, anyone considering purchasing an Expedition should considering the following as the Expedition itself has not been crash tested. The Expedition is built on a F150 platform. http://www.iihs.org/news_releases/2001/pr060401.htm
I am considering buying a 2001 EB Expedition. The one I'm considering has some options that I really don't need, but the price seems very good. Any idea what the average above invoice is that they are quoting these days? Also, I'm curious to see if anyone has had any issues with the options. The one I'm most curious about is the Four Corner Load Leveling Suspension. I can't find any ... Read More

The high actually came while driving in the Smoky Mountains. Have a 2001 XLT, ... Read More

I bought my ford expedition in large part for its safety rating. I am a brand new father, and my wife of 8 yr and myself wanted to purchase a safe vehicle to transport my son. The 2001 expedition brags about the 5 star government safety award. It also offers 4 wheel drive for the snow, and plenty of power to pull our boat. Less than 1000 miles after biting the ... J.D. Power's own quality survey has just named the 2001 Expedition as the highest quality full-size SUV you can buy. Sequoia came in fifth...lots of issues, which is uncharacteristic for Toyota...but perhaps they bit off too much with this launch into a new product segment. Read the Sequoia Town Hall postings to get a feel for the issues Toyota faithful are dealing with... Also, the NHTSA website for crash test results ... Read More
