I'm guessing at the IAC as the culprit for your idel issue and it is easy to replace so it seems like a good place to start. In the front the blend door axles break which leads to no control (in the back it is the blend door actuator that breaks it's gears). Have to disagree with you on your last comment; I've owned three Expeditions (2001 EB, 2003 EB & now 2011) and have enjoyed each of them.
The issue with the front vents is likely a vacuum leak. There are vacuum hoses that run under the battery tray and they tend to get corroded and leak. The rear is likely a broken blend door actuator. I found instructions on removing the radio on the internet. They are as follow There are 2 screws above the gauges holding the trim piece to the dash. Remove them with 9/32 socket then slowly pull the trim cover away the dash being careful not to crack the latching clips. That data is incorrect, the 1997-1998 ford expedition was at 215HP and not at 220. The 1999 was at 240. The 2000 was at 215. The 2001 was at 215. The 2003 was at 232. Iam not sure about the 2003 because I had to get its info from edmunds. Hope that helps.

Has anyone experienced a vibration in a 2000-2002 Ford Expedition when accelerating from a stopped position? This is a constant problem on our new 2001 with less than 3000 miles. Dealer says its a "characteristic" and "they all do that." I say no, and fix it. Currently doing battle with Ford. Any help is appreciated.
I have to laugh at the attention and scrutiny the media continues to give Ford SUVs. For example, the same week that CNN made headline news of the investigation into Expedition stabilizer bar links, there were 9 other investigations, including one on Toyota, two on BMW, and one on Mercedes-Benz. If safety is a consideration, then you should look elsewhere. While the Expedition has not been crash tested, the Ford F150 was a dismal performer in the recent IIHS crash tests. The expedition is based on this vehicle and will probably do worse, given its extra weight. The poor occupants were crushed in this vehicle and to make matters worse, the airbag deployed late. Does anyone know when the expedition is scheduled for a body style change? I'm planning to buy an one next year. I bought a 2001 explorer and my dealer didn't tell me about the 2002 model. I would have waited the 4 months for the new body style. I don't want this to happen again

I have not had many problems with the Expedition itself. The reverse sensor is a little erratic at times. Took it on a 3700 mile vacation from the plains of Kansas to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, down to Savannah, Georgia and back. Gas mileage varied between a high of 24.5 and a low of 15.5.
