Vehicle
2003 Ford Excursion Limited 4WD 4dr SUV (6.8L 10cyl 4A)
Review
I was looking for an SUV after my son was in a car wreck and suffered brain damage and a broken back, among many other injuries. I needed an SUV with enough room in it to carry my son's electric scooter while also having enough room for him to stretch out and lay down too; he's 6' 3". At the time it was very hard for him to travel more than 30 minutes without laying down.
Favorite Features
Running boards, powerpoints, cupholders, awesome towing capability, tranny cooler gauge, looks/styling, V-10.
Suggested Improvements
GPS system.

All the room we need
Vehicle
2003 Ford Excursion Eddie Bauer Rwd 4dr SUV (5.4L 8cyl 4A)
Review
We bought this truck when we had our third child. I had never owned a truck but I loved my husband's Expedition. In fact, I wanted to buy an Expedition because I thought the Excursion was too big. But my husband wanted us in the biggest vehicle possible in case of an accident. Turns out I am very happy with the Excursion because of the amount of room behind the third row seat. With a large baby stroller back there and a full load of groceries or Christmas presents, I use up the entire space. Not to mention the times I am carrying an unusual load like rented tables and chairs or landscaping plants. I can get everything I need on one trip, saving me time, aggravation and gas.
Favorite Features
Space!
Suggested Improvements
The interior is very plain, cheap looking compared to the other large SUV's.

I have the Powerstroke 6.0 diesel. Use truck for towing 32' travel trailer - works great. Interior seats are very spacious and comfortable. 20mph hwy/16 city. Towing 12 - 13 mpg. Will hate to see it discontinued.
Favorite Features
Front seats, rear double door, interior cargo options, Powerstroke 6.0l diesel
Suggested Improvements
Electric mirror extend/retract capability.

I LOVE my Excursion!
Vehicle
2003 Ford Excursion Limited 4WD 4dr SUV (6.8L 10cyl 4A)
Review
The Excursion is so comfortable! The 7 people in my family, including 2 teenagers, fit wonderfully in this vehicle. Road trips are a breeze! It takes a little time to get used to parking this beast, but it's well worth the effort. I am saddened that this vehicle will not be made after 2005.
Favorite Features
Interior space, smooth ride.

Best SUV Around
Vehicle
2003 Ford Excursion Limited Rwd 4dr SUV (5.4L 8cyl 4A)
Review
This is my second Excursion. We have traveled nationwide with a family of six and all were comfortable. It handles great in mountains or deserts. I get about 20 mpg on the highway and 15 mpg in town.
Favorite Features
I love the size and the weight of the vehicle. I also work out of it and can pull any trailer and carry as much as I could in a pickup.
Suggested Improvements
Don't ever put on all terrain tires and expect a quiet ride. I'm also sad that they will not be made by Ford anymore.

Review
This is the second Excursion I've owned. The first had the V-10 and really bad mileage. The 6.0 diesel is very powerfull and gets GREAT mileage for the size of the vehicle. On the highway, I average 24 MPG at 75 MPH. My Jeep Wrangler gets a paltry 15 MPG's. We have had a few minor, but annoying problems, particularly electrical ( A/C looses power.. just shuts off ) but far less than the problems we had with the 2000 V-10 ( also electrical, interior lights would blink on and off everytime it rained and it rains a lot in FLorida ). Overall, this vehicle represents the best value for people / cargo around.
Favorite Features
Economy, power, comfort, and especially the "feel" of absolute safety, knowing you're the biggest, badest SUV on the road. My 5 foot, 105 lb. wife REALLY loves it ( must be a chick thing ;)
Suggested Improvements
Get the electrical system right !! and redesign the window rims so that water doesn't pour in if you crack open a window in a rainstorm ( even 1/2 an inch ). Wind noise is annoying. Ford should keep building this vehicle, but ONLY offer it in the diesel. GREAT Mileage !!!!

Pay extra for the Diesel Engine, it is worth for the fuel economy. The new Turbo 6.0 engine is Fabulous and surprisingly quiet.
Favorite Features
Make sure that you get the towing mirrors, it makes a huge difference seeing around the huge blind spots.

Love my Excursion
Vehicle
2003 Ford Excursion Limited Rwd 4dr SUV (5.4L 8cyl 4A)
Review
This is the second Excursion we have owned. Our first model had the 7.3 diesel engine and was a 2000 model. We loved it too but was a bit noisey. After the new 6.0 diesel was available we opted for this newer model. This is a traveler's dream. We average about 18mpg overall (includes intown miles). It is very comfortable and can get our entire family and "stuff" in the vehicle. It also pulls the hound out of a cattle trailer. Love my Excursion!
Favorite Features
Front captain chairs are like having a Lazy-Boy on wheels. No problem keeping it cool, even in Texas summers. Better mileage than lots of SUV's. Get a diesel..too big for gas engine. Great ride.
Suggested Improvements
Too much wind noise. Needs better fit. That is only complaint but wind noise is no worse than most other vehicles have owned.

I love the whole package with this Excursion. I added a Gibson Exhaust, a Pro-M 95MM MAF Meter with a conical airfilter, and a custom computer ECU upgrade. All of these have greatly added to the fuel economy of the big truck! Build quality is far better than the last 2 decades from Ford.
Favorite Features
Diesel fuel economy without the added $6,000 + No problem towing with a 9500# load behind.
Suggested Improvements
Keep building this TRUCK! People assume that these are the worst fuel efficient trucks on the road..... Look at the 4.0 Liter Trucks AKA Rangers, and the Chevy 4.3 liters..... BAD Milage! FORD DON'T BUCKLE UNDER THE MISCONSEPTIONS OF THE FEW!
