Re: Gas or Diesel. [lance17]

I have a 2001 Excursion 7.3 and I usually get about 15 MPG with a mix of highway and city. My diesel has about 150,000 on it and I just took it on a trip to Florida. We had nine people packed in with a loaded carrier in the back. I got 17-18.5 MPG at 70MPH. I have found that the main factor in my gas mileage is temperature. I can usually count on 1-1.5 less MPG in the winter. I ... Read More...

Re: Ford Excursion 2001 Issue [chauce1]

The light problem has to do with one of the power locks. To determine which one you would have to diconect one at a time. start with the drivers. Just pull door panel off and be easy when taken the inner skin. I you don't wont to pull it off then take a sharp knife and cut a spot open and just reseal it with duck tape. I work at KTP here in KY will check on computer chip when we ... Read More...

Re: Ford Excursion 2001 Issue [chauce1]

as to your door ajar problem, while the door is open spray down the locking mechanism on the door with wd40 and close and open several times. The dust in there gums up the door ajar sensor. The sensors are on other vehicles external push pins somewhere on the door frame area, in the excursion they are built into the lock. You should also spray the back glass door as well, ... I feel everyones PAIN!

Man, that sucks that your rotors have gone to the dog's again. I really know how you feel. I went through 2 pair of rotors and one set of calipers on my 2000 Ex. It only had 7700 miles on it before someone crashed into it and totaled it out. Mabey a ABS problem? I wonder if that year is a ? Although my 2001 Ex. did the same thing, but only once. I was lucky, my Excursions were ... Read More...

Ford Excursion 2001 Issue

Re: 2001 Excursion performance pulling tt [wcatruss]

We also have a 32' TT with full slide out weighing in around the same. 2000 X w/V10, 4x4 2800rpm was likely because it wouldn’t go back into O/D. If you’re not sure what it’s doing, in a safe place when you can concentrate, push the O/D button in to cancel O/D(is your O/D cancel light on the shifter working?), wait a bit, then turn it on again and see if the rpm’s change. ... 2001 Excursion performance pulling tt

My wife and I took our first road trip with our 2001 Excursion V10 pulling a 32ft Wildcat TT (about 8500lbs) loaded last week. All was well for the first 125 miles then we began losing power up hills. Earlier, it would jump to 4500rpm gain speed then line back out after hill was climbed. Later it would change gears but rpms would stay about 2800. Had ford dealer in that ... Read More...

Re: TIRES FALLING APART .... [kissmystamp]

I have a 2001 Excursion Limited and received a recall notice directly from Firestone. There were different levels of tires installed on the Excursion (D-level, used also on the F-250 SuperDuty and E-level, used also on the F-350 SuperDuty). The Firestone Dealership in Lima, Ohio explained to me that it had been determined that the additional weight of the Excursion, ... Read More...
