    the hood pin under the hood in front left side is what is making your alarm go off i have a 1999 ford escort same problem and i unplugged it and the alarm stopped from going off by itself it's that pin that is making it go off

    My 1999 Ford Escort will not turn at all. After jumping it will start. I had the battery and alternator checked and both were found to be normal. However, after sitting for a period of time there is no power to the car, no lights, key fob won't work, no radio, etc..., completely dead battery.I replaced the starter to but find out that starter was OK.

    have a 1999 ford escort, starts right up, idles pretty good until i put it in gear, accelerates ok but kicks and spitts at all speeds, cleaned out fuel lines, cleaned out the pump screen, new filter and plugs. the fuel from the lines, filter and screen very dark, fuel in tank looks clean. any ideas, any one?

    Yes the belts wear and break after 100,000 miles and cost that much!The broken belt may have damaged your tune up.

    it could be you alternator belt or even the alternator belt tensioner. I put a cheap belt on mine and the thing wined really loud, you could hear me coming a block away, so I had to go back and buy the more expensive belt and thats what it was. As for timing that car you better take it to someone who knows what they are doing, that can be tricky ... Read More

    i have a 1995 ford escort, it stopped running yesterday, mechanic says timing belt broke and locked up the engine , he says it will cost 900 to fix ? is this possible ? before it broke down, the last couple of months it was sputtering when i slowed down but would stop on take off, pushing the gas peddle ? has about 200k miles well maintained car help

    I have a 1999 ford escort zx2 and I was told that my tension needs replacing. I was quoted a price of $300 for parts and the same for labor. I feel like they think I am stupid. Question is this price outrageous or what? Also I had a module replace because my air cond wasn't working the total job cost me 249. Please I need advice.

    m 98 escort snapped timing belts twice. just take off the acc. belt and then take off the crankshaft pully, then take off the timing belt cover and the timing marks shoud be aroud the cam pully and the crank pully, but remember if you belt has alot of miles just replace it while you got it out. but remember when putting the belt on, when you tighten you tbelt it ...     In mar 99, I bought an escort wagon, 1999/ll864 miles. thought it was a good buy, fought with the dealer and ford for a year, On Mar 9 ,2000, it was declared a lemon & b ought back by ford, had to repay me all moneys & money I had paid loan co. just a bad smell from a/c vents. NOT!!

    Just bought a 1999 Escort Wagon - had to go with a demo. No more new "non-demo" ones were left in Ohio. Apparently they went out of production in March 1999 and what's out there is it. Could not find a Mercury Tracer Wagon either - hence the Escort. Runs well and still got the rebate, plus low cost Ford Credit financing.
