I've had this car since it came out 7 years ago and it's a fantastic car. Other than routine maintenance, I've never had a problem and it has been the most reliable car in my driveway. Its compact size but interior comfort make it a great commuter car, which is fantastic in an area with some of the worst traffic in the nation. Overall, great car and I plan to keep driving it for years to come!

Review

I adore my Ford Escort! I drive constantly because of school, work, and club outings. Not once has it died or not started up on the first try, and I got it at 110,031 miles. I would highly recommend this car to anyone at all. It's wonderful. Perfect for a busy teen like me.

Favorite Features

It handles well, and the roominess is perfect.

Suggested Improvements

When payment is even slightly damp, braking causes horrible sliding due to the light weight of the car.

Review

I got this car after high school graduation and had it throughout college. My dad used it to drive pretty far to work everyday while I was away, and this whole time nothing bad has gone wrong. Besides the usual wear and tear, the worst thing that happened was the horror that was installing my CD deck over the old trim. I would change some small things, but overall, its a fun, reliable and good looking vehicle considering some factors.

Favorite Features

Style, reliability, fog lights.

Suggested Improvements

Trunk release from the inside, passenger side unlock from the remote, push seat release for the back passengers to get out (currently we have to get out, pull the seat forward, and pull up the release to let them out). My accelerator stuck once but it never happened again.

I bought this car last September. I was originally looking for a ZX3 but this one was CHEAP. I test drove it and bought it the same day. The performance is unbelievable for a stock car, if only the aesthetics could be comparable. If you're young and want a tough, quick car, then this is it. I can't seem to break it, which is hard to believe. Parts are cheap too ($25 Cdn for a wheel bearing). Service it regularly and this car will last forever.. And if you live in an area where salt is used on the roads, undercoat it every year.

Favorite Features

Performance. Amazingly comfortable for long drives. Pretty quiet at highway speeds.

Suggested Improvements

No power passenger's door lock is ridiculous. Dash is very plain, but oh well. When windy out, wind noise around windows is very annoying.

This car was great for the first four years of existence, but soon began developing small problems here and there. Those small problems have now developed into large problems with the transmission, the flex plate in the shifter and the fact that I get a back massage each time it is at idle because the idle is so rough. Despite these problems, the car can still handle well through corners and can keep up with some of the most moderately priced vehicles. Great car for a new driver.

Favorite Features

Dashboard and controls are easy to locate and use. Handles great. Comfortable car for short road trips (200 miles and under) with amazing gas mileage (approximately 25 city/30 highway). Was the perfect first car for a female driver!

Suggested Improvements

Headlights could be improved with the addition of fog lights (some models do have these, but not mine) as well as higher wattage in the high beams.

Bought this car used as a replacement for a Nissan Sentra. Other than being a little noisy, it's been a great car. It now has 110K on the odometer and still going strong. We've had to replace motor mounts and the drive axles in the past few months but at 100K those are wear items anyway. This car has been flawless otherwise. Car has never had to go in for service except for routine maintenance items. For those who are shopping, stay away from the dual cam engine unless you just gotta have the power. Routine maintenance for the twin cammer is far more expensive than the single cammer, or so I've read.

Favorite Features

Interior space is excellent for a small car, good trunk space too.

Suggested Improvements

Driving position a little too low for short drivers. Needs a aftermarket height adjuster for the seat but can't find one. Odd since there are so many tuner parts for the ZX2.

I've had my Escort for 6 and a half years. I bought it brand new and it is as reliable today as it was back in June 1998! It has almost 130,000 miles and going strong. It even survived about two years of being used by my wild teenage son. When this car finally retires, I will definately want to buy another Ford. Wish they still had Escorts.

Favorite Features

The trunk is big and the back seats lay forward, so I can actually carry very large items. I also love the remote control trunk and door opener on the keychain.

This is an excellent car if you want an inexpensive car and don't car much about extras. This was my first car. I have had it for 6 years, have 50,000 miles on it and nothing on it has EVER broken. It is a "bare minimum" car...no casette player, no cd player, no power windows, etc. But...if what you are looking for is low price and good performance this is the car.

Favorite Features

Driver's side remote keyless entry...no other power lock, windows though. Also, extremely reliable. Never needed any major repairs.

Suggested Improvements

More options...CD player, power windows, etc.

My car is great. Good gas mileage, reliable, small (but not too small!), sporty....Ford did a great job.

Favorite Features

I like the fog lamps, wheels, and it's a 5-speed manual transmission. It's hard for stick lovers to find good stick shift cars anymore!

I would have liked a trunk release on the inside of my car.

Second car my car for running around town love the car love the silver color hope to have it another 10 years. Have a grand marquie for other car feel safer with grandkids in bigger car, escott is a nice nice nice car and I love it.
