Bought 8/07 w/94k miles. Only had to replace the MAF sensor when I bought it as the previous owner put tape over the check engine light. Use it for commuting (35 mi/day) mostly. Great AC, fun to drive, cheap on gas (better than my 72 Bronco). No oil leaks. This is my 2nd Escort SW, first being an 84 diesel. Both have been great.

Before I owned this car, a manual transmission 4 door wagon, I owned the same thing, except for in an automatic form. My opinion, the manual is the better of the both. Even my wife loves driving it, which is odd, because she'd always prefer automatics. It can get a little dicey in the winter, especially where I used to live in B.C., but it's the funnest car I've ever driven. I could have a little more leg room, but I'm only 5 foot 8, so it doesn't matter. My Escort is the plainest Escort you could ever get, but for some weird reason, it has power mirrors. The seats are manual, the locks and the windows. But that's what I love about this car.

I bought my wagon two years ago, not
knowing it would be the greatest used
car I have ever purchased. Excellent
gas mileage, and lots of room for
storage. Sure, lots of new parts are
on this wagon, but the Mazda powerplant
still runs flawlessly at 150K miles.

Only replaced minor things. Biggest
problem was the heater core at around
150xxxmiles. Just replaced the brake
pads (front), minor tune ups, oil
changes, etc. The AC leaks somewhere
but its not a problem since I use the
car as a winter beater now. It gets
GREAT mileage. The clutch needs to be
replaced soon. Changed 4 winter tires
(13" lol).$300bucks installed. Once
went on fishing trip, you guys wouldnt
even imagine. 6 passengers! (1 guy in
the trunk lol). One cooler full of
beer, portable bbq, tackle box, rods,
etc. We must of had a combined weight
of 1200lbs. Performance thrown out of
the window. I love this car!

I've had this car since it was new and
it has never failed to get me where I
want to go. It has been kept outside,
and has always started, at 95 degrees
or zero degrees, just turn the key.
The kids are older now and we need
something that holds 6 people, which is
the only reason I'm going to sell it.

I love my escort & it has been very
reliable. Have taken many road trips
with it & never had any problems.Other
than normal maint. I have only replaced
the clutch, the dr side cv joint and
heater core. I have never been stranded
in all my travels. In 02 it finally
gave out w/163000 miles. Had motor
replaced runs great now and odometer
reads 200589 (actual is 63000 on new
motor). Interior good cond and exterior
no rust just some scratches and bumper
damage from some idiot backing into me
and not said a word. I have used and
abused this car for multiple purposes.
Think of buying another car but not
sure I want to part w/my baby.

I used this car to haul 8ft lumber in
sdie with hatch close. Also. I
installed a hitch to haul small
trailers with home improvement items.
The car was abused, I guess, but kept
going strong. I replaced the exhaust
and struts twice, and clutch once but
little else.
To keep the AC from running constantly,
I tinted the 7 windows. Big winter
boots tended to rub the brake pedal
when using the gas pedal. A small seat
cushion helped smooth out the rough
Michigan highway roads and is required
for long trips.
The car was worth every penny I spent
on it. Great gas mileage.

This has been a great car. Orginally
bought after a divorce when needing an
in-expensive car to get me by. Well,
10yrs later, still have it. Minimum
maintainence, Replaced tires & battery
& rear springs. Thats it!! Great,
dependable car, fun to drive
especially in snow. Still looks (near)
new today.
