Dear Listers, We have a 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid with 37,000 miles which spends most of its time in the shop or riding around on the back of a tow truck. Our Escape was an insurance write off at 2300 miles and we bought it at 3,000 miles total time running and repaired without warranty. I remember a recall on my 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid dealing with Traction Battery harness - 07B48. Probably nothing to do w/ the brakes. You probably had the recall done. Don't give up on it. Believe me when I say that I could have written word for word what you said about not being able to get the electric to run more than a few hundred yards or to keep the electric running over 20MPH. 4 years later I don't even think about it and easily run on electric to 30MPH plus, and run on home that last mile on electric. The bolts connecting the front seats to the floor are also rusty. I have a 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid 4WD. It's in for service since last Friday at a local dealership. I had it in mainly for the recall. That job was done within 2 hours. It's fairly simple. You can find out from the IRS website, the current $$ amount of the Tax Credit. The credit is available only for a certain number of Ford escape Hybrids (for the 2007, the credit lasted until Ford sold 60K FEH's). It is a Tax credit available only in the tax year of purchase.
