Ford EcoBoost Jive is so Sad....
By bruzr on
2014 Ford Escape Titanium 4dr SUV AWD (1.6L 4cyl Turbo 6A)
I must say I agree with all the "Fun & Marvel of Ingenuity" platform,
that has been touted as the takeover vehicle of the the Crossover SUV Market that Ford has presumably taken (some have said). But the beauty is all on the surface, as sorry as must say, the basis of small engines is Fuel Economy over performance, and they have got things a bit backwards. Love the performance, but missing my promised MPG by a longshot.
Electronic Heaven, all the gizmos one would need to feel in touch with our Connected Society. And I must say, not slouching in anything except for voice recognition is a bit pitiful, needs a update. But the FORD Sync Software for the most part works well. Mobile Syncing at it's best, Bluetooth is quick, streaming works with Pandora, Google Play, etc. Love that things are finally catching up with Android Devices. Sound System is great, and handle your bass if you want, mid/high end is good as well. Alert systems are adequate and work, but override music sometimes annoyingly.
As mentioned Voice Recognition is not great, needs some streamlining (SYNC Software updates are often), and seems a bit vague. And Ford SYNC Main interface, it does not seem to remember your choices, or goes back to default quite often. As in Music Screen is usually a primary Interface one would want to have accessible, or Navigation, it goes back to Default, and one must constantly choose the preferred screen, which dangerously draws attention from one's driving needs. BIG ONE....Gas Mileage is way off. This 4-cyl 2.0L EcoBoost (whatever supposed to reflect) Turbo is way short of the 22City/30Hwy, and I drive very mellow. Attempts at low load driving (No A/C, smooth accel) no better..sad!!
