I just recently bought a 2010 Ford Escape with 79k miles and the V6 engine. So far, I am very impressed! I just had some maintenance done to it to make sure everything is sound; this included transmission flush and oil change. Everything looked good according to the dealer. I have read a lot of negative reviews, but I would advise to buy one with some miles. That way, all of flaws would be worked out. So far, excellent car!

It's my favorite car I've ever owned. 7 years and 150000 miles in it still looks and runs great. (Shame on Ford for making the 3rd Gen a bloated teeny bopper hatch back instead of a proper suv like this one.)

170,000 miles and Still Going Strong

I have to honestly say this is the most reliable, solid car/suv I have ever owned and I have owned a Honda and Toyota previously and a 2000 Ford Taurus that reached 210,000 miles before I decided to get an SUV. I stuck with Ford and I'm glad I did. I haven't had too many recalls on it(I think 4) and got them taken care of no problem as of now it also doesn't have the takata airbag recall either. I have taken care of it but really haven't had to do a lot of repairs beside replacing tires, oil changes and replacing brakes a couple of window regulators had to be replaced but I've had it 8 years and an ac compressor and water pump last year thats it. I took it on a long road trip last year with no problems it is actually very comfortable for long drives(I have the Leather and its Just Right for me) What I especially love about it is the Big Windows and Blind Spot I feel very safe in it as the Visibility is Very Good and my Fave feature the Pop Up Rear Window great for popping open and grabbing a beach chair or groceries quickly. I Love my Ford Escape and I will drive it until the wheels fall off and I have never felt like that towards any of my previous cars. It gets good gas mileage I have the V6 engine with 230hp lots of get up and go but still average 26mpg I read somewhere that the 2010 hybrids are known to be high mileage cars(300k) and I am hoping that will crossover somewhat to mine time will tell but I read about brand new cars with all kinds of issues and I'm holding onto mine for awhile!!

Drive Shaft, Door Latches and all 4 door agitators

I bought my 2010 Ford Escape used with 27,000 miles on it in October, 2012. I had a drive shaft issue which was fixed by the dealer as a recall item. When I reached roughly the 40,000 mile mark in early 2014 I began to see problems with my door latches opening with the remote key fob ( I realize the mileage has NOTHING to do with the door agitators). Since I didn't always open all 4 doors and it was happening only once in a while it wasn't that much of a hindrance. My driver side always (and still does) work with an old fashioned key turn process. Fast forward to the fall of 2014 and now 3 of my 4 doors were giving me problems. I took it to the dealer and the verbal quote to fix the problem was "around $2000.00". I knew the problem wasn't going to fix itself but it was more than I could afford at the time. It was especially difficult to imagine that a car worth around $10,000 had 20% of its value in door latches and agitators. Beginning summer of 2015 all four doors were/are only working with the remote about 1 out of 10 times. But my driver side rear door now wasn't opening AT ALL. I took it back to the dealer, who was extremely courteous, and they gave me a written quote of $2,200 for the 4 door latches/agitators plus another $500.00 for the door that wouldn't open problem. So now I have a car worth about $8,500 with about 25-30% of its value in those door latches. The car was perfect for my size (6'4) and worked great when all of the current issues were not issues. In doing my research, it is difficult for me to believe that there hasn't been a recall on this problem since so many other people have had door latch/agitator problems with Ford Escapes. The dealership(s) (I have spoken to 2 certified Ford Dealerships in the process) have NEVER seen all 4 door latches go. The fact that they occasionally work tells me that it could be another issue but the dealership is pretty confident that it is the agitator. Hopefully a recall becomes available in the near future or I may be forced to trade this car in rather than put out so much money for such a seemingly minor issue. I may be better off selling off parts since they apparently carry way more value than a traditional trade-in.

Hi, I bought a 2010 Escape XLT 4-cylinder, front drive way back in 2012, it was a lease return like new, then with only 24K miles. It now has almost 140k. It is not fancy, but it's been a reliable, good looking, little crossover. It look like a little truck, but it really is just a car, which is good for MPG and handling. Not sporty but very easy to drive. Small enough it's super easy to park, yet it is as you would guess a box on wheels so can hold either 4 adults comfortably or haul large items. I bought it because I am a cyclist and I can easily put bikes, even recumbents, inside which is better when I travel out of state for cycling vacations. At this point this car would probably make a great 1st car for a kid or basic transportation for someone on a budget. Everything still works; radio, Sync, AC, lights, runs well and I averaged 23mpg over the life of the car. The only recurring issue is the throttle body goes bad. if you are at all handy and know a little about cars you can fix it yourself. You'll need an OBDII reader and search You Tube for a video on how to replace it. I got a replacement on Amazon. It's right in the front of engine high behind the radiator, up high, 4 bolts no bending or crawling under the car to access. Overall if you can find a clean, maintained one and need something cheap pick one up.
