Best for the money
Vehicle
2009 Ford Escape XLS 4dr SUV (2.5L 4cyl 5M)
Review
I have an 09 with the 2.5 and 5 speed manual. I wanted the lowest price and the 6 speed auto is new. I wanted proven reliability and the 5 speed manual shifts very smooth. Good performance and gas mileage combination with the modern 171 horsepower engine and manual transmission. Has an excellent ride and comfortable seats. Nice on the highway and a good handling city car, too. Fun to drive and fun to sit up high. Safer than earlier models. I have the red metallic. Looks great with legal color tinted windows side and rear. Lots of cargo room with the seats down. Has the updates of a Suv from Japan and feels just as good with a lower price.
Favorite Features
It is new.
Suggested Improvements
I would prefer a lower fouth gear and a higher fifth gear. Only 500 rpm difference on the highway.

Love This SUV!!
Vehicle
2009 Ford Escape XLT 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl 6A)
Review
I traded in my 2003 Ford Escape XLT for a 2009 model. I got a great deal and 0.0% financing. I opted for the 4-cylinder (to feel a bit "greener" and get better gas mileage). I was very hesitant about this, coming from the V6 2003. But, to my great surprise this is a very peppy SUV and I honestly only notice a difference going up steep hills. I love the SYNC option (an option I actually could have cared less about when buying this--but--it works flawlessly with my iPod) and the updates to this are great. I really like how the back seats fold flat now and the fact that you can open the back gate with your key. I LOVE the 2009 Escape!!
Favorite Features
SYNC (!!! Amazing!!!) and sun package; gas mileage; color (nice blue); exterior.

Lots of Shopping and Love it!
Vehicle
2009 Ford Escape XLT 4dr SUV (2.5L 4cyl 6A)
Review
So I did A LOT of shopping - a lot. Looked at the CR-V, RAV-4 and Escape, with my initial thoughts of going with the CR-V, however I hated the middle console and finally ended up with the Escape. I Love it - great gas milage (@ 26 average) huge fan of the console and the sync technology. Drives very well for a 4 cyl. after coming from a V6 its actually great. My decision had a lot to deal with how I felt in the car rather than what everyone else said - go with your gut!
Favorite Features
Sync technology is great, great space and driving is great. Its a nice smaller SUV that has the space without feeling like you are parking a tank.
Suggested Improvements
Telescoping Wheel!! I mean really guys, that and possibly some lumbar support in the drivers chair. Also not the biggest fan of the rear seat cup holders in the console. Otherwise, seriously terrific vehicle.

Great Buy
Vehicle
2009 Ford Escape XLS 4dr SUV (2.5L 4cyl 5M)
Review
I bought this in April of '09 and waited to write this review, because I wanted to see if my delight in this car would hold--it has. So far, I've gotten 26 mpg's but it's still adjusting. I saw where Edmunds said getting the rear seat down was difficult -not so- lift a handle and down it folds. I'm loving the Siris radio that comes free for 6 months. I will subscribe when it runs out. The fit of the car is great. My husband loves it too. I bought this car because when I researched cars on Edmnds, the people who had bought this car gave it such high marks. They were right. No complaints at all.
Favorite Features
I love all the technology located on the steering wheel. I'm not a techy but I'm learning to love it. I love my bluetooth phone-quick note- if you buy this car and your blue tooth doesn't work- it's the phone. Mine was defective so I got a new phone and it worked. To me blue-tooth is magic!
Suggested Improvements
Of course gas mileage-I hate paying for gas, and it went up again today. We need this car to get 50 miles a gallon-or more!

Love my Escape!
Vehicle
2009 Ford Escape XLT 4dr SUV (3.0L 6cyl 6A)
Review
I wanted a truck from another manufacture, but due to cost and gas prices we focused on small SUVs. I'd driven an F150 before and loved it, so we looked at the Escape. The one negative was KBB's prediction about resale value (but I keep cars a long time so not a big deal). I was impressed by the safety ratings (my number one priority), and liked the safety features available. The SYNC system is great, itÂ’s easy to see all the way around the vehicle (no blind spots and easy to back up). At 60 mph I get 31 mpg, at 80 mph 25mpg; not bad for an SUV. It's well designed and wonderful to drive (I enjoy my commute now!). A great vehicle and a good value (we got it below invoice). I love my Escape!
Favorite Features
The SYNC system, exterior styling, interior design ( everything is laid out very well and the center console is great for organizing), peppy response (plenty of get up and go) good mpg for an SUV, comfortable, fun to drive, very smooth ride, great handling, USB port, best of all the safety features.
Suggested Improvements
I wish the hybrid didn't cost so much more, I would have preferred buying it had it not been so expensive. Also, less road noise around the windows would be nice (but there's not any more than any other truck or SUV, so don't let that deter you).

Review
I was looking to buy an SUV that gets good gas mileage. I bought a new 2009 Ford Escape and absoluetly love it. It gets great gas mileage, very smooth ride, easy to drive, and great features. I was also able to get a really great deal on the price. With only about 2000 miles on the SUV i am already getting close to 26 mpg. i am also only about 5' tall so i thought it was great that the seats raised up and forward. They allowed for me to see great and have no blind spots. The handling in the escape is amazing.
Favorite Features
sync, smooth ride, roomy, moon roof, satelitte radio, no road noise

I like it
Vehicle
2009 Ford Escape XLS 4dr SUV (2.5L 4cyl 5M)
Review
Replaced my old F150 with this. I was surprised at how smooth it drives. The clutch does take some getting used to. Been getting 29.5 mpg on highway. Goes up the mountain roads pretty good. Full coverage insurance was cheap, so must be safe? I've only driven it about 1500 miles but everything works great.
Favorite Features
AC is ice cold. Audio input is cool. Steering is really smooth. Comfortable. Lots of little storage spaces. Cup holders conveniently located.
Suggested Improvements
Too many buttons by radio. Seat fabric kind of cheap. Not sure about the capless fuel filler thing yet. Very limited selection of stick shifts at local dealers. Some features not available on stick shift models?

Gas Mileage Surprise!
Vehicle
2009 Ford Escape XLT 4dr SUV (3.0L 6cyl 6A)
Review
I knew I wanted a V6 for power and durability, but I thought that I would be compromising gas mileage to get it. I was wrong! The V6 is giving me close to 30 MPG on the highway and low 20's around town.
Favorite Features
I love the headroom, the improved power in the new V6, great gas mileage, and the overall look of the vehicle.
Suggested Improvements
The 2 sunglass holders in the overhead compartment are too small to hold larger sunglasses. Also, the shifting is rough in the automatic.

Deja Vu all over again
Vehicle
2009 Ford Escape Limited 4dr SUV (2.5L 4cyl 6A)
Review
Bought a 2005 AWD Limited and turned 100,000 miles on it. New car deals are so good now that we traded it in for the 2009, and the new version is so much better! Better looking, smoother driving, and the perks are all very cool. Have a hard time understanding how Edmunds calls this SUV "adequate" but owners have rated it much closer to the truth. Went to FWD and 4 cyl this time and getting 27 mpg on the road. We have a 6 year old black lab so we get the dark interior and we love the way the rear seats fold flush to the back of the front seats - Max loves to lay with his head on the headrest between us so many other fold-down rear seats just didn't work for us. The best little SUV made!
Favorite Features
Overall ride - fun to drive. Love the SNYC! Safe and cool. And the best- looking little SUV on the market. Love the boxier look and not the windswept style of so many others.
Suggested Improvements
Larger glove box. A second power source up front. (The new one has it behind the center rest but the 2005 had two on the dash - you get used to that...)

We were looking at rav4 , crv and escape . All were close in drive and comfort but the escape saved us almost 6000 rite off the top . The 7yr bumper to bumper took any fear of durability out of the equation . The 4 cyl with new 6spd tranny has plenty of get up- SURPRISE!
Favorite Features
New int. and ext. styling - sun and sync package - steering wheel controls
Suggested Improvements
power front pass. seat - hide the antenna other than that job well done
