agreed! I hear the same BS here, 'has to learn'. discussing this intently with the dealership, Grogan Ford, here in Ontario. Check the LemonAid guide, they call it, gear hunting. The dealer is telling me it a programming problem, I agree. This is the 3rd time. I am telling them, this is not a ISSUE..its a PROBLEM, solve it! First of all, Louise, I used to live in Panama City, and have been to Dothan as well! So I know the area, and loved it. (Ah, the smell of a paper mill in the morning! Nothing like it). Anyway, it sounds like bad gas, but if it isn't, it may just be a power surge that messed up your engine management module. Restarting the car probably re-booted it and that's ... Read More

The Ford dealer was always, "We will mail you the documentation" and of course they never did or it was just a simple "your truck was here for a problem". This is not the case, they record what they did to the truck, but ... Read More
Didn't you keep your receipts where it states the problem, resolution and parts replaced from the delaership you used to use before they went out of business? It has been 2+ years since I last posted and wanted to give an update on my 2008 Escape V6 Limited. Still idle stalls and more importantly rolling stalls. Interestingly enough, I have a 2008 Ford Escape Limited and have lost 2nd and 4th gears also. The remedy is estimated to cost between $1,800 and $2,400. My extended Warranty expired 14,000 km ago. Since the warranty has expired, I have had to replace a fuel injector; 2 universal joints and now the transmission. I only drive this vehicle to and from work. Yesterday I went to Panama City, FL from Dothan, AL, a distance of 82 miles one-way. The SUV was great going down but coming home something strange happened that frightened me. i have a 2008 escape. no durability issues yet. back seat upholstery is original and very stained ( i tried the Oxy Pet Removal stuff on it per another poster's recomendation--looked like it worked initally, but the stains are back). front seats were replaced while it was under warranty. so far, they haven't stained. it doesn't surprise me that the seats would also wear out. that material is awful.
Sorry to hear about the rusty roof. I can't believe that Ford gets away with such awful quality. I met a man last week and he said that his 2008 Escape had new seats installed and they are still staining. He is going to pay for new leather seating. Huh? Ford depends on owners to correct problems themselves, thus we continue buying their mistakes. Just like the guy who thinks 70,000 miles ... Read More
We have a 2008 escape that had the same stains. The dealership sent Ford pictures before the warranty was up and they replaced the seat covers and made an adjustment to the sunroof. The dealership told us a remnant of the 2008 fabric could have been used in our 2011 Escape. It shouldn't be that way, but until Ford stops using the recycled fabric the problem will never be solved. I would never buy ... Read More
Wow, WOW..! I know, historically, that the Ford Escape has had far to many drive line component failures but this still seems "over the top". Plus most of the driveline component failures involved only the F/awd models. And even with that it is my "cut" that most of those failures involved only the PTO or the rear clutch/diff'l assembly. Those most likely arising from to frequent and/or inappropriate use of the ... Read More
What he said. My 09 Lexus has an 8 speed transmission, and it hunts a lot. It's normal. If that's why you rejected the Fusion, you blew it. Instead, the engine winds up like a sewing machine and stays wound up high until you reach downhill, or cruising speed. Very unsatisfying, but ... Read More
