2006 Ford Escape Limited 4dr SUV (3.0L 6cyl 4A)

Review

This is a great little SUV. It's small enough to not feel as cumbersome as many of the larger 'utes, but still avoids feeling like a "toy", which I did not find to be true of the RAV4 and CR-V I took a look at. We got the Limited with every option except towing and sunroof. I've never had much use for a sunroof, and if I wanted to tow, I would buy a larger vehicle intended for that type of use. Highly recommend the titanium green color. It maintains a clean appearance longer than many colors, and looks great in sunlight. Overall a very nice vehicle, with surprising options. Highly recommended.

Favorite Features

Reverse sensors, 8" sub on upgraded audio system is nice, perforated leather is a nice touch, tire pressure monitors and keypad entry are unexpected, even for the Limited.

Suggested Improvements

V6 engine sounds anemic, even though it's plenty powerful. Maybe the exhaust could stand some tuning.

2006 Ford Escape XLT Sport 4dr SUV (3.0L 6cyl 4A)

Review

With less than 600 miles on the car the only real problem I have is the fuel economy. Could use better seats with lumbar adjustment. Also a temperature gauge like my F-150 SuperCrew and a compass. Other than that it seems like a real nice car. My wife drives it and appears pleased. Oh yes. Power disc brakes at least in front, all as standard equipment. Ford I hope you’re reading this.

2006 Ford Escape XLS 4dr SUV AWD (2.3L 4cyl 4A)

Review

My Escape came from the factory with the front end out of alignment and a steering wheel vibration that comes and goes. The front tires were damaged and Ford refused to replace them. They did align the front end but have not been able to cure the vibration. The engine runs well and has good power for a 4 cylinder but often hesitates when cold. The ride and handling are good. It has some wind noise but it is not offensive. I would not recommend buying this vehicle.

Favorite Features

CD player and radio.

Suggested Improvements

Better quality control.

2006 Ford Escape Limited 4dr SUV AWD (3.0L 6cyl 4A)

Review

My 2006 Escape runs and handles very good for a small suv. it has plenty of power but lacks fuel mileage. it is fun to drive and was great in the snow.

Favorite Features

Great 6 disc in dash cd player. Heated seats work great on those cold winter mornings.

Suggested Improvements

Poor location of the front cup holders. Front heated seat controls should be located on the dash for easy on and off operation.

2006 Ford Escape XLS 4dr SUV (2.3L 4cyl 5M)

Review

A good, economical SUV to drive and it serves most purposes. Although not a very powerful engine (4 cylinder) it easily makes up for it in fuel economy. Because of its size, it is nimble and can squeeze in spots better than your average SUV yet still is able to hold/transport almost the same amount as bigger SUVs without giving up a lot of space. The base XLS model is no frills but has options that you would not expect. A good value over all and I am quite satisfied.

Favorite Features

Voluminous room with rear seats folded down. 4WD.

Suggested Improvements

Some minor extra amenities found in other small SUVs.

2006 Ford Escape XLT 4dr SUV (2.3L 4cyl 4A)

Review

Have had this SUV since 19 Dec 2005. I have not had any problems with the car at all. Traded in a Ford Taurus 4D and find this vehicle to be a pleasure to drive. I have sons that are 6 ft and this SUV has the room to allow them to be comfortable in the rear seats. Great travel vehicle.

Favorite Features

Radio is set up to be used with SAT radio if wanted.

Suggested Improvements

I can't think of any at this time.

2006 Ford Escape XLT Sport 4dr SUV (3.0L 6cyl 4A)

Review

I have the XLT Sport V6 and am very happy with it. I think it's an attractive and sporty automobile, and was very affordable. The ride is nice, it's very peppy with lots of pick up. Plenty of room for my 3 kids and I and lots of room in the back for groceries, backpacks or strollers. It handles beautifully and is a lot of fun to drive. It had a lot of nice options as well.

Favorite Features

I love the power features, the 6 CD changer (have to learn how to use it), the way the car automatically locks all the doors for me, and the grippy steering wheel. It has other great features like a great security system, and the interior light that turns off slowly after you leave.

Suggested Improvements

I was disappointed to see those dangerous rocker-style power window switches. They are very dangerous should a child lean on them.

Ashtrays should remain an option. There is a perfect spot for one but now is just a hole in console. Not much room between the door and the seat adjuster. Good thing we don't have large arms. Geared just a little high for driving in hill country.

Favorite Features

Roominess and ability to fold down seats. 6 disc cd changer is nice feature.

Review

I have only had an Escape for three months and for every day I drive, I love it more. My kids find it gives them more room than our old minivans did. It's a little truck-like for slow town driving but for average speeds it's comfortable.

Favorite Features

The truck space is great ... also plenty of rear passenger leg room. Love the design and handling. There's really not anything I dislike!

Suggested Improvements

Would like to see more inside colour choices. An adjustable lumbar support would be great as well. Otherwise, it is perfect as-is!
