All, I am having multiple misfires with my 2004 ford escape. Cylinders 1,2,4, and 6 are misfiring. It has always had problems when there has been a recant rain with high humidity. Hello there are you using E10 gas which is ethanol, this can cause stalling in cars if its at a high level try using non-ethanol fuels only place to find it is at a boat marinia. let me know if this fixes the problem. :) Read More...

Wonder if your dead battery problem was solved. This is my second Escape and both had exactly your complaint. After 2 weeks parked the battery is guaranteed completely dead. My 2001 had the same issue. Dealer can not solve either car's same problem. So much for Arlington Heights Ford shop. Am on the 3rd battery but only a battery tender keeps it starting. Winter ... I own a 2004 Ford Escape Limited. When my wife and I were shopping for her vehicle we test drove the CR-V as well from 2004. Its clear which SUV won. I also like the looks of the 2005-2007 Escape better then our 2001-2004 generation (front styling for the most part). The 2008 and up Escape is also nice but it "looks" a little bit less rugged and more gussied up bling-bling ... Read More...

Update on my battery drain problem (sept.28,2008) Dealer replaced the GEM module, but if not driven for about 2 weeks, the battery will be so deplete that it will not operate the door locks! This is the third battery, GEM replaced, and the alternator replaced.The ford garage suggested hooking up a trickle charger ! They said they cannot find a problem.. I have ... Read More...

By "bones" I take it you are referring to chassis. I have owned both and I agree that the Escape feels more substantial and much heavier..think solid. Perhaps the "heavier" feel hinders its handling because my wife's 2004 Limited feels lethargic when it comes to handling...not very nimble at least in comparison with the CR-V. The CR-V currently is on its 3rd generation (1997-2001)(2002-2006)(2007-currently) and the Escape is on its 2nd generation (2001-2007)(2008-currently) the fact that the CR-V is on its 3rd generation has nothing to do with how Honda's design may have flaws. I don't think its the Idle control valve is the problem, you are having one or two things happening 1. If it stalls when its hot you are getting vapor lock it may be due to the new gasoline called E-10 Ethanol, the alcohol in the fuel can cause more vapor lock when heat is present then non-alcohol blend of gasoline, to solve the problem you need to insulate the fuel rail ...
