Like the title says, I own both the
Escape and Tribute, and must admit,
both are terrific vehicles. I don't
normally like SUV's at all, but these
twins ride like cars, have very
comfortable interiors (though there is
too much reliance on hard plastic
pieces), and plenty of power from the
V6. The engine's quiet, wind and road
noise low, and the cars are great on
trips. I can drive them for hours
without tiring. Other than the bargain
basement interior, I don't have any
Styling, great looking SUV's, if you
pay for painted bumpers (and you
ride, almost like a good quality road
car...quiet, responsive engine...low
Dress up the interior, for there's
entirely too much hard plastic
After researching suv's for 6 month's I
have purchased a Ford Escape, this
truck is a please to drive. I looked
at Mitsubishi, Toyota, Nissan and
Honda. While they may carry a high
resale value, they also carry a much
higher price. After all is said and
done this truck, to me, is the best
value in the market. The size is
perfect, the performance great, and the
ride, surprisingly good. I had this
truck out in a snow storm and it
performed great, not one slip or slid,
it was never even in four wheel drive.
I have driven import vehicles for the
past 11 years but, I'm glad to be back
in a domestic vehicle.
The upgraded radio with 6 CD player is
a must, it's awesome!
Heated seats!! Door handles and
console need to be a little more
substantial, they look and feel cheap.
Really FUN to drive! It is peppy and
handles great for an SUV. It feels
more like a sedan/coupe in performance
than an SUV at times.
It is a good compromise between a
viable SUV and a decent handling sport
If you are looking for a stylish,
entry level, around town, SUV with
excellent acceleration and handling
performance, 4WD and superior cargo
capacity, you have found it! It is
very easy to park and manuever.
Just remember-it is an entry level,
smaller size, SUV in its price point.
You can load it up with options but
you cannot change its basic build
materials and quality a whole lot.
Spacious cabin and excellent cargo
capacity.Peppy V-6 adds to
performance. Styling and appearance
are great. It stops very well even
without disc brakes in the
rear.Invoice pricing and factory
rebates/incentives are the norm.
Ignition key placement poor.Interior
cabin controls are CHEAP plastic.Need
another 12V power point in rear.
Seats are TOO FIRM! Brake dust is
HORRENDOUS! Need a Compass/OAT
gauge.Engine oil specified only
marketed by FORD. Offset crash test
results are MARGINAL.
