2010 Ford Edge SEL 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl 6A)

Review

This is my second Edge due to not seeing a better fit for me from a price/quality/ride/space perspective. My first Edge was quiet, responsive and reliable. The exterior design was fresh and the interior was pretty nice if you overlook a few cost cutting shortcuts on trim. The broad, stable road stance and powerful engine are all still intact. Changes are subtle but important. Biggest of the changes is that the SYNC system is now available. Next the driver's window goes up automatically, better sound insulation in the cabin yields a quieter ride, and a lower handle on the rear lift gate improves leverage. All make this a better vehicle.

Favorite Features

SYNC system routes cell phone calls through the stereo automatically. Exterior keypad allow my wife and I to exchange cars at the airport days apart with a single set of keys. Fish eye side mirror inserts eliminates blind spots. Still love that rear seat release from the lift gate area.

Suggested Improvements

Bring mileage up. Should be better than 24. Chevy is claiming 30.

Review

After having a 2005 ford freestyle limited AWD, and turning the fstyle in for the FLEX I am so far impressed with Ford's improvements. The only improvement would be in fuel mileage- I am avging 22.3mpg, as compared to the fstyle at 21.9 which was larger and AWD; though the performance of the 3.5L 6-Auto is far superior to the 3.0L and CVT. The comfort is phenomenal, better than Cadillac DTS seats. The style, design, ergonomics, and cargo capacity, along with the vista roof make for a very enjoyable and fun vehicle. Extremely practical, fun, and stylish & brisk performance. Edmunds recommended the rouge or venza, but those shld not be considered for obvious rsns. great CUV from a grt company

Favorite Features

VISTA roof, Ambient Lighting, Handling & Performance, Heated Seats, Ergonomics of Seats, Cargo Capacity. Interior Styling.

Suggested Improvements

MPG, antiquated radio display.

drove a liitle over a month. It's good Vehicle in this category. The engine is queit but the initial speedup from 0 to 30 takes long time after that the engine is powerful. The suspension system is very good for 20" tires. rear and side view is not good. but it has wide angle mirrors on both side mirrors. so actually make it safer to drive when you change lanes. The speak bass is good but overall speaks quality is not good even as my Winstar! The dashboard looks like cheap. The vista roof is awesome! Overall it's very good car that can compete with Lexus RX series if you don't mind the brand name.

Favorite Features

Sync Voice activated System, Sirius radios, larger tires and memory seat on driver's. One more thing is that info center. MP3 CD player and usb port support.

Suggested Improvements

Improve tyhe looking on the dashboard and front panel. make it look pretty and not too cheap. Need more creative on the middle seat of the second row. It's really not comfortable for people sit the middle of the second row.

Master Cylinder Brake Failure

Review

I had to take the Edge in at 5,400 miles because the brakes felt spongy. The Dealership says I need a Master Cylinder, but they had none is stock. I am without a vehicle as I wait for the Edge to be repaired. In this day and age, the Dealership should offer a loaner if they are going the keep the vehicle over 24 hours.

Favorite Features

Heated Seats, Sirius Radio

Suggested Improvements

Better control over sub-suppliers to reduce bad parts.

Review

Bought a 2010 Edge Limited FWD. I think the interior is pretty nice. The floor mats I think are too small though and prob won't protect the floor well in the winter. Cruise control is a pain to initiate, but after that it's ok. Rear visibility out the rear window is poor- it seriously is. To improve it, fold down the rear center console arm. You can improve it further by folding down the rear seats. The ride is awesome- very smooth on 20 inch wheels. Does feel slightly top heavy though, but just slightly. Seats are very comfy with the most leg room I've seen. Touchscreen radio is awesome- sounds great. Don't buy one of these without it! Overall, this Ford is a dream to drive.

Favorite Features

The radio definitely is my favorite feature. Ambient lighting is surprisingly handy.

Suggested Improvements

I put an Audiovox XR6900 remote start on mine- works great (just have a PRO install one for goodness sakes). Fuel economy: My trip computer says I'm getting 21.6 MPG and I've calculated it myself and it's very accurate (probably 90% highway). Vehicle is really wide-barely fits through garage door.

I got this car in the Cash for Clunker deal, and I'm glad that I did it. It drives great, has enough leg room for my growing children and is generally a nice car that I think I will drive for quite some time.

Favorite Features

MP3 connection and rear window wiper blade.

Suggested Improvements

None yet.

Traded 2000 Ford Windstar with 160,000 miles during Cash For Clunkers program qualifying for $3,500 & $3,500 in Ford Incentives total $7,000 off the price. Already averaging 22mpg mostly city driving with very little time above 45mph. Can not wait to see what mpg averages on the first all highway trip. Very smooth and quiet ride with plenty of room for 4 or 5 adults. Decided to shop the internet for Ford ESP Premium extended warranty and found $895 for 60 months/100,000 miles coverage rather than purchase at dealership for $1,795. Purchased top of line $300 GPS on my own vs spending $1,695 as installed option from Ford which also lets me remove it and use it when I rent.

Favorite Features

Sync voice activated system, power sun roof, steering wheel controls for radio and sync, handling, roomy interior.

Suggested Improvements

Dash controls especially speedometer are inset and very hard to see in low light and when light comes from the side shadows hide the numbers. Ford should look at VW - EOS & Jetta controls are easy to see and well designed. Had I known this before, I might have chosen a different vehicle.

This is our second Edge, and the improvements are outstanding from the first generation. Engine is powerful and quiet. Fit and finish rivals vehicles that cost $20,000 more. The fuel economy has improved also. We were looking at Mercedes and BMW as an option, and we choose the Edge!

Favorite Features

My wife loves the ambient lighting and the sienna leather seats. The kids love the dual headrest DVD's and I love the handling. Something for all!

Suggested Improvements

Offer the Eco-boost 365 horsepower engine that is available on the Taurus SHO. Now that would be a hit!

2010 Ford Edge Limited 4dr SUV AWD (3.5L 6cyl 6A)

Review

I just bought a Ltd AWD. I'm very happy with the car. I've not noticed any of the poor braking distances that consumer reports mentions, but I'm not a tailgater either. I am getting about 20mpg on average. I think this is a lot of car for the money. The features, design and comfort are all very high for the money. The next tier choice up in pricing for a crossover just doesn't offer that much more to justify the pricing. This is a lot of car for the money and is solidly built and well designed. You can feel the shifting though when you step on the gas on the highway to pass. Pickup is fine for me, but if you are really into power, the weight is pushing the need for a V8 - but still good.

Favorite Features

The Vista sunroof, blindspot mirrors and upgraded audio system. Great back support on the seats.

Suggested Improvements

Make the shifting smoother and upgrade the "flash" of the center console.

Purchased with the clunker program. Good deal - outdoor total was less than $22k. Still in break-in, fuel economy is about 20mpg, not bad. Build quality is excellent so far, but the Hankook tires seem not in the top quality

Favorite Features

Suggested Improvements

Mechanical break is kind of loose - you push to the bottom, the car still moves an inch, quite annoying
