2000 Ford Econoline Wagon 2 Dr E-350 XL Passenger Van
Review
I have a 2000 E350 Superduty van with v10. Performance is great - gas mileage ... well you don't buy a v10 for the mileage, you buy it for the POWER. The problem is I have 4 wheel disc brakes and after 45,000 miles I needed a brake job. What I discovered is that Ford uses cheap discs which rusted and required all four replaced. The cost was out of sight! My suggestion is watch out when buying used; check the discs.
Favorite Features
This van has power and pulling ability!
Suggested Improvements
Hey Ford spend the money and get better discs. You'll pass the cost on to us anyway.
just love it

Ours happens to be a 2000 conversion van setup, high-top, and it is the best van we have had. At first when we bought it we had to get used to its massive size, but once you climb inside its a total different view. Equipped with a TV and DVD system it makes long road trips a lot more fun and relaxing. The captain chairs are plenty wide and well cushioned for those long hauls. Ours came with leather interior and separate sound systems front and rear. Its perfect for almost everything we do with it and it stands out which makes peoples heads turn and we like the comments. I would definitely buy another one in the future.
Favorite Features
Ample room, separate audio systems, entertainment system, captains chairs, power fold down rear seat, towing capabilities, powerful Triton v8.
Suggested Improvements
Just the usual, like gas mileage. We average at about 14-16 mpg. Visibility can be an issue in tight quarters. Driving visibility hindered by its size in general, would like to see bigger windows put in place for newer models. The exterior has not been changed for more than 10+ years, needs update.

Review
This van hauls anything, and does it flawlessly. Even weighing in at 19,000 pounds with trailer, it still offers good performance. Center aisle seating option makes the long trips extremely comfortable. Unloaded acceleration and handling is above average even compared to V6 family sedans.
Favorite Features
Towing capcity, 6 CD in-dash CD changer, excellent handling and power.
Suggested Improvements
Unloaded ride is stiff on rough roads/off-road. Uses lots of fuel, although it's reasonable for its size (11 city, 15 hwy). Some features should be standard like daytime running lights, CD changer, power drivers seat.
we keep buying them

We have our 4th E-150 on order. It's a truck, don't expect sports car handling or mini car gas milege, but is very quiet. The only unexpected repair for 3 vans has been a power steering pump that leaked and had to be replaced. The 5.4 L pulls everything and holds 6 or more bikes behind the third seat(we mountain bike and camp) if you have 3 or more kids, travel alot, and take everything with you, you can not beat it.

Bad Steering, very bad brakes, very bad front end, dumb dealer repairs, bad Ford feedback, low qulaty assembly & parts. Won't buy again!

Suggested Improvements
Bring back good designs, confort, quality or send all your "exec's" to Chevy's junk yard!

Ford- poor quality

Review
This is our first ford and we bought it new. In its first two years, the AC system broke down five times (compressor was replaced twice, expansion valve replaced four times, electrical switch replaced, flapper door repaired), the transmission had to be rebuilt, a door latch broke, the connection between the steering column and the steering box needed replacement twice, one front seatbelt replaced, a horrendous grinding noise at start-up from the AC compressor from day one to this day (the dealer showed us a Ford service bulletin that says such a noise is normal). Other than that, the truck has been trouble free.
Favorite Features
Lots of interior room.
Suggested Improvements
Improve quality of AC system and transmission.

I have 5 kids, so the minivan was not an option. This is a tank - I have a 7.3L diesel engine in mine, which should run for a few 100,000 miles. It is great for long trips, but not something that you want to use to run back and forth to the grocery store. Take out the seats and it will carry almost anything. It does not have all the nice touches of the luxury mini- vans - it is a bus. I have not had any mechanical problems. The fit and finish are not great - since I traded in an acura on this van it took a little getting uses to the molded plastic doors and loose fitting pieces.
Favorite Features
The kids never complain of not having enough room. The separate rear control for the air conditioner.
Suggested Improvements
It needs more cup holders and rear trash holders. The middle console could have been better designed to actually be useful for storing things - it is basically just a couple of open compartments.

Review
I have had this van for alomst a year and a half. I am currently (10/8/02) selling it on Ebay because I am "udgrading" to a diesel Excursion. This van is perfect for everyday driving and when it's time to pull a BIG (9500 pounds) load, it is there for you with the V10. I would still keep this van if I could afford it. Overall, I would rate it an 8.
