2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid SEL 4dr Wagon (2.0L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)
5 days now with the car; 850 miles: 650 interstate and 200 local roads. Ford advises car must be driven a couple of thousand miles before accurate MPG can be determined, but what I'm seeing now is 44 MPG city (lots of stop and go, and hills) and 37 interstate. Surprising that cold tire pressure is 38 PSI. Dealer was flexible on price, even though this is a new model. This is an SEL model with just one option: premium white paint. Car is a pleasure to drive: sporty feel, comfortable seats, quiet cabin, excellent driver interface with gages and displays. Build quality looks good.
Info screen to left of steering column can be customized; does good job assisting driver to maximize MPG. Electric power steering was a nice surprise; big improvement over my 08 Escape. Suspension is firm but comfortable. Seats and seating position excellent (but I'm only 5'7"). Lots of pep when engine and battery work together for climbing hills or merging onto interstate. Rear seats fold down easily to expand cargo capacity. Voice commands work well for audio systems. Excellent visibility in all directions, aided by large mirrors with built in convex mirrors. Not an electrical engineer, but engine, battery and controlling programs seem to maximize performance and MPG.
Owner's manual does a poor job explaining the options for engine/battery screen displays; be patient and experiment. Very light touch on the brakes. Climate control knobs easier and quicker than voice commands. Driver's floor mat very small. Useful info in owner's manual could be condensed from 300 pages to 50 pages. Dealer prep not good: too little air in tires, oil a pint low, and inside of windshield filthy.
