Wish They Still Made Them!
Vehicle
1991 Ford Aerostar 2 Dr XLT Passenger Van Extended
Review
Bought van used with 70k miles and it's now at 168k & running strong. Bought it to replace a 1995 Plymouth Voyager after it was totaled & the biggest difference noticed was all the extra room. We had 4 kids at the time & van is huge with extra big cargo area & storage even under seats. Lots of headroom. Can comfortably haul from kids to couches. Engine & transmission mechanically sound with only routine maintenance; light oil usage only problem. 3.0L V-6 not enough power & it strains when accelerating but rides smooth once going. Gas mileage good at 17 city, 25 hwy. Seats have thick cushions instead of thin like new vans we've rented. We've kept van as spare because no new van is as roomy. We wish this model was still made!
Favorite Features
Room, room and more room. Dual air & stereo, electric lumbar support, ability to tow, firm but cushioned seats, headroom, legroom, sound mechanics.
Suggested Improvements
Needed bigger engine standard and cup holders. Second set of spark plugs needs special tool to replace. Overhead storage would have been nice. Very back windows don't open but middle slide back. Needed inside handles to help children get into van.

Ugly but reliable!
Vehicle
1991 Ford Aerostar 2 Dr Eddie Bauer 4WD Passenger Van Extended
Review
This beast now has 185,000 miles; the only problem I've had is an engine knock that gets better as the engine warms up (been knocking for a long time), and a wicked vibration under acceleration. Leaks a little oil but you know you can drive it any where. The AWD is great; it gets better traction than my Grand Cherokee. If the body would last as long as the engine I would keep it forever.
Favorite Features
AWD is GREAT. Engine is bullet proof. Stereo is better than average. And my kids can sit way in the back. Peace and quiet.
Suggested Improvements
It doesn't need to look like a block of cheese.

Review
Its a great vehicle for hauling...used it in my furniture business. The interior is giant! Lots of head room! I bought it with 60k on it, and put another 100k on it. Really fun to drive,so roomy great if you're a tall person. Only problems-I now have a tick in engine!? Very hard to replace oil filter yourself. Lots of power though in 4.0 liter....As far as other problems, just normal things.
Favorite Features
Giant interior-8 foot from back of seats to back. Tailhatch pistons just keep working! Powerful motor, easy to drive. Great mfg stereo.
Suggested Improvements
Start making it again! Bigger engine compartment. Lighter seats in back ( to heavy to put in and out)

Bought van with 60,000 miles. Drove it for another 100,000 miles. No major problems. Great vehicle. Last year made 1997. Most for sale have over 100,000 to 200,000 mi, so it shows they last.
Favorite Features
Size, can fit plywood in extended model. Rides well, and tows well. Can tow 6,000 lbs.
Suggested Improvements
Lower rocker panels rust out.
