I was very hesitant about buying this van. It is my 1st import or diesel vehicle. Bought this vehicle w/650 miles, 144" & std roof. Dealer titled previously. Drove it home on a hwy (150miles) @ ~15F and got 19.7mpg (speed 65mph). Drove it on another hwy trip (300miles) @ ~30F and got 23mpg (speed 55-65mph). No crankcase oil used so far @ 1400miles. Starts unbelievably fast and w/o assist @ 0F (no cords for block heaters, etc. - only 1 battery). No exhaust fumes (completely clear - even in the winter from a cold start), quiet, economical and fast. This diesel van is not like the domestics out there. Some great minds must have come together to build this vehicle. Nice vehicle.
Economy, diesel engine, transmission, reheat/auxiliary electric heat functions, nimble handling/braking, traction control, comfortable seats, very nice front interior, cargo height (great for mobility needs, business, etc.) and superior visability.
Cargo's interior - it would be nice to have the ability to upfit with seats, windows and interior paneling/insulation a little easier from a DIY prospective and some simple dealer/mfg. assistance.
This German Diesel van is one of the finest truck that I have ever driven. Fuel milage is 22 mpg regularly. The hyway handling is more like a car that a truck. In city the 144 is never hard to get through stop & go traffic. The seats don't look like much but w/ many adjustment at the finger tip it is easy to get relocated. Removed the metal divider behind the driver & passenger seats. Now moving to the back doesn't require stopping & going outside to open the side door. Hang a plastic clear curtain behind the seats & the A/C will not work so hard to keep the front cold. Do a lot of cross country driving & the tank range is plenty but could be larger. Stock tires don't get over 30k
The motor is very quiet & full of power.Floor D rings are great.Lower rear windows are a big help.Back doors w/ open locking magnets are neat. Brakes are very strong. Std mirrors are good. Fuel mpg great. Transmission tap brakes & feel the automatic down shift, very nice. Tall cargo area, great.
Increase the # of wiper speeds. Make simpler the lock controls on the dash. Add back up warning beep inside the cabin. Have a full auto open & close intergraded in the window control botton. Larger fuel tank, to 45 gallons. Needs a built in ramp in the rear. Stock tires need more useable miles.
Have driven 6,000 combination miles so far,worst mpg is 19 best is 22. Appears with my rear end ratios I will be getting better in town mpg than hwy at 70. I'm carrying 1600 lbs. constantly as cargo in form of boxes. This van is a dream to drive. My history has been 5 Ford Vans, and this is by far a cut above. Turning radius is much tighter than any other van I know of. Ability to lock doors after exiting appears to be non-existent, unless using the fob. This does,of course, prevent any lock-outs I presume. My experience so far has been above my expectations. Anyone willing to make the jump-up on the front end to purchase one, will be justified after a few miles under ones belt
Love the transmission manual downshift capabilities, will save on the brakes I'm sure. Cab heater that runs w/o engine running is great for doing paper work in cold weather.
Bit confusing as to how to unlock electric doors with switch on dash after engine is off. Ability to add add'l fused circuits under drivers seat requires some engineering, as vacant fuse spaces do not have hot circuit side available for you to just 'plug and play'
