2500 SLT "Bighorn' Cummins
Vehicle
2005 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500 4dr Quad Cab SLT 4WD SB (5.7L 8cyl 6M)
Review
I considered the Chevy Duramax, until I drove the Dodge 600 Cummins. I now have over 20k miles, aftermarket shocks, air-lift, and performance module by Predator. This truck actually gets over 20mpg in the city, and 24-25 on the highway. The power to haul my RV is is remarkable. The aftermarket gas shocks help the rough ride, and to date, have not had one problem.
Favorite Features
Power, torque, and looks. The 'Bighorn' edition is a steal with tons of extras. I get compliments everytime I fill up at the gas station.
Suggested Improvements
Adjustable gas shocks would be a great addition. Larger tires and wheels.

Nice truck

This truck has tons of power to make my boat go fast when it's out of water. Enjoy having the 4 doors, with 3 car seats in the back this truck still has plenty of room.

Would have liked a little more upscale interior / more space to put little things kinda of like those new VW's in the commercial

Diesel is not an option listed-why?
Vehicle
2005 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500 4dr Quad Cab SLT 4WD SB (5.7L 8cyl 6M)
Review
Vehicle is outstanding, should have bought a diesel engine before this truck , mileage is what I had hoped for. Actual mileage around town is on average 18 mpg or better, on the highway at posted speeds it has achieved 24 mpg - When I first pulled the 7500 lb trailer the average mpg was about 14, however the engine is broken in now , so I expect it may improve. Have only been back to the dealer once for warranty, the transmission computor lost its mind and would not shift correctly---Wish I could have found a stick shift--would recommend this. Great truck
Favorite Features
Diesel engine is quiet compared to brands--easy start in cool weather , lost of power and fuel efficient
Suggested Improvements
Front drivers seat needs improvement ,I weigh 220 and seat through the foam padding and contact the steel seat cage on the left side bothering my hip-- causing discomfort after extended driving periods.Chrysler dealer is of no help.Good truck otherwise.

First Dodge - won't be my last
Vehicle
2005 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500 4dr Quad Cab SLT 4WD LB (5.7L 8cyl 6M)
Review
Had planned to buy a Silverado, but my son convinced me to try a RAM. Glad I did! The Hemi has lots of extra power, and on a recent 1,000 mile trip I averaged 17.5 mpg. With the exception of parking, it's easy and fun to drive. You can't beat the exhaust sound of this engine. Step bars are a must, as the truck is really high.
Favorite Features
Engine, exterior styling, driver information center.
Suggested Improvements
Stereo controls are not intuitive. Had to actually read the owners manual.

Don't do it, you'll reget it.

Wow, what can I say. What a horrible experience. The Dodge Hemi powered attempt at a true crew cab falls short of my expectations. I had it 8 days and the dealer only wants to give me $6000 LESS than I paid for it! What a great value huh? The interior is the smallest of any of the competitors. It has an extremely noisy interior with multiple fit and finish problems. Overall I'd have to say to Dodge, you have some serious issues with your QC. Ford and Chevy dealers take note. You could sell twice as many trucks if you'd have a Dodge on your lot and let consumers do a side by side comparison. Make sure you do your research and so you won't make the same decision I did.
Favorite Features
The Hemi is a nice engine, too bad it's stuck in this truck.
Suggested Improvements
Start from scratch, keep the Hemi and toss the rest.

'05 Dodge diesel 4x4 2500

Review
Well- I got this truck last year because of the increasing gas prices, well now diesel is more expensive than gas. Besides that, I'm getting 14mpg avg. between hwy & city. I was getting better mileage with my 2001 chevy z71. I like the truck, but hate the fuel efficiency.

New Ram Fan

2005 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500 4dr Quad Cab SLT 4WD SB (5.7L 8cyl 6M)

I had owned two Fords and had excellent service over 19 years from both of them, so it was going to take a lot to get me into something else when the time came to replace my last truck. I looked at the big three, and after tons of comparison, shopping, reading, test drives, and talking to current owners, I settled on the big Ram 2500. It has performed flawlessly in everything I have asked it to do, from taking a trip to the coast in comfort (about 700 miles round trip on a one fillup), to carrying everything in one trip to bulid a large expansion on our deck.
Favorite Features
More power from the Cummins diesel than most people will ever need. Actual fuel economy that is better than my wifes 4-Runner. Not bad for 325 HP and 610 ftlb on the Torque. Just a shade over 3100 lb payload rating. Great visibility from the tall height. Power personafide looks.
Suggested Improvements
Straight in parking can sometimes be a chore, but could be helped with a tighter turning radius. Would like to see the option of manual locking hubs on the 4x4. Improvements to the grille mounts (It just seems a little flimsy while closing the hood). More available colors.

An excellent work truck for hard needs

2005 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500 2dr Regular Cab SLT 4WD LB (5.7L 8cyl 6M)
Review
A super hauler, reliable and tough. We recommend this truck for those who need a hard working truck. With a comfortable interior and easy to read controls, this truck is as much a pleasure to drive as it is a worker. Excellent acceleration on demand is a welcome plus.
Favorite Features
Easy to read controls that are all accessible. The 5.7 liter Hemi power.
Suggested Improvements
Gas mileage.

I was a little worried about the fuel economy for the first 15,000 miles. Now that I have reached 18,000 I am seeing 19 to 21mpg without a chip or any other modifications. Excellent towing power.

Went from Ford to Dodge
Vehicle
2005 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500 4dr Quad Cab SLT 4WD SB (5.7L 8cyl 6M)
Review
I was a die hard Ford man. Drove several Powerstrokes. I then drove the Dodge. Handling is better, doesn't feel cheap or poorly built inside. No squeaks, rattles, or anything. The Cummins is just as quiet, if not more so, on the highway and wow, is it fast. Also a lot cheaper than a new Ford. Nearly $6000, that is like a free diesel engine. If you are serious about a truck like this, drive them all! I drove the Chevy at a car show after I bought the Dodge. The Duramax doesn't compare.
Favorite Features
The Cummins Diesel. Great engine. Interior features, fold flat storage, center console. I use both all the time.
Suggested Improvements
Wish I would have got a sunroof. Also a power sliding rear window would be great. Tough to reach from the front seat. Ford has a good idea with that integrated trailer brake, mine did come with a wiring harness however. No wire cutting.
