The optional 5.7-liter Hemi is strong, though it might perform even better with a six-speed transmission (it currently only comes with a five-speed). It steers and brakes adequately, but handling is better than most thanks to a unique coil spring rear suspension. Dodge rates towing capacity conservatively, but performance is nevertheless strong.
Here the coil spring rear suspension pays additional benefits, and the Ram isn't rattled by rough asphalt. It's also comfortable to sit in, with spacious and confortable seats and a good driving position.
The Dodge has a lot of features and functions, yet Dodge has managed to present them in a usable and functional way while still maintaining a cohesive design theme. The optional Ram Box is a unique offering on Crew Cab models that creates lockable bed storage and an excellent cargo management system.
We like the fresh update to the classic Dodge Ram truck theme. It works. And Dodge has upped its game on the inside, as well. The competition has been busy doing the same thing, so they've merely kept pace in this area.
Cargo Hauler
It's a truck, so cargo hauling is capability No. 1. The available Ram Box is available for those who like things neat, organized -- and locked away.
Towing Capable
The Ram does better in this regard than its tow rating would suggest. Dodge is being conservative, so feel free to use all of it.
Off-Road Ready
The link-coil rear suspension is smoother on washboard tracks, makes it easier to put the power down in soft dirt, and has better articulation.
Family Friendly
The Crew Cab has plenty of space for families, and available amenities such as rear-seat TV and DVD screens make multifunctional.
Comfortable
Upper trim level Rams are quite spacious and comfortable.
