This truck has about 119k miles on it and i hear this tapping sound and took it to pep Boys because i had problems with my brakes but the mechanic said the tapping noice is a transmission problem and that i need to have it looked at. High Beams not working

I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup. The low beams work fine. The high beam work OK as long as I hold the lever on the dimmer switch close to the steering wheel. As soon as I let go of the lever the high beams go out. If I click the level again the low beams come back on. Do I need to replace the dimmer switch or is something else wrong? Thanks. I'm having the "No Bus" message show on my 1999 Dodge 1500 Ram pickup. it's a manual with a 318. This happens when I'm idling or on the road. It doesn't seem to matter if A/C is on or any other electrical device. It seems I just have to wait a period of time and it starts up again.
