X Ford, had concerns about their diesel (6.0). We choose the Ram because of the engine and body profile. The biggest factor, full 4 door (short distance, 6'plus men NOT an issue). The short wheelbase allows maneuvering in parking lots much easier than the others 4 drs, granted they have more room. Only have 2000 miles to date, so reliability is yet to be seen. Had a couple of engine lights issues, apparently cold air setting off sensors.
Nice ride for a 2500, stiff ride but not tiring. Diesel very smooth and quite, odors reduced over the past years. Chassis and body not quite up to Fm, especially body skin. Other than the issue mentioned below, would purchase again. Love the cab comfort, visibility and reach of controls
The drive train (4x4 or 4x2) has violent wheel hop in minimal wet snow conditons (4 to 6"). Almost undriveable in those conditons. My van can traverse more snow than this pickup! D/C thinks its the anti-slip (no fix). Same on another driven.
