LOVE My Truck
I bought my 2000 Dodge SLT Laramie 4x2 used with 81,000 miles on it. I am the third owner and I LOVE my truck. It has enough power to pull the horse trailer and enough room for my family to take trips in it comfortably. Just note, you can not put 4 tall people in this truck comfortably. It works great for us because we have two family members over 57 and two under 57. It has been my daily driver for the last six years and other than the horrible gas mileage of the 5.9 liter V8, I really cant complain. No major mechanical issues and it wears tires very well. Its starting to get that old car disease, where its needing maintenance due to age. Ive replaced the belts, the tens
Good workhorse
Mine is a 5.9L Auto/4x4, but that wasn't an option. Overall this truck has done its duty without any major issues. My dad bought it brand new and i bought it off him 3 years ago. Took good care of it but worked it hard too. They are good for what they are if taken care of. Even with the 5.9L it is underpowered vs newer trucks but we have towed all the way up to max capacity without issue. Gas mileage is atrocious but what do you expect? With 141k miles the only "major" issue is the evaporator went out a few years ago so the air doesnt work, and its an expensive repair. People don't seem to treat them right, but if you do find one that has been taken care of, you can't beat them for the price
A Great Truck
I've had my 2000 Ram 1500 Quad Cab for 3 years now. I have actually used my truck as a truck--hauling pallets, trailoring my '77 T-Bird (about 3 tons including trailor) along with a motorcycle in the bed for 700 miles, carrying a full pallet of moist sod in the bed, pulling a 23-foot boat, and you get the point. Never once has my truck complained or given me the least bit of trouble. I have taken good care of it though, so maybe that's part of it. If and when I decide to let it go, someone will get a great truck, and I will be sad to see it go. It has served me well so far, and I see no reason that it won't continue to do so for years to come.
A fine truck, but has a drinking problem
Bought the truck used from dealer with 21K on the clock over 3 years ago. It has given excellent service. It gives a decent ride, has very good power, is quite maneuverable for its size, and has all of the creature comforts (my wife loves the heated seats). It pulls our 19' camper trailer with little strain. Upkeep and maintenance has been very reasonable - BUT - Gas mileage is horrible! Best I've ever gotten with it is 14.1 on a long, fairly flat trip. Driving back and forth to work, I get about 10.5. Towing the trailer (no faster than 60 mph) I get 8.7 mpg. Next truck I get HAS to get better mileage. I hope that Dodge can fill the bill, 'cause I've been a Mopar fan for 35+ years!
Awesome Truck!
It's easy to say this is THE best truck ive ever driven. I'm at almost 123,000 miles and there has been no major fixes on the truck. The only things i've had to replace is the power steering pump and the brake cylinder. Only bad parts about it are the gas mileage (about 12 for me) and the fact that the paint doesn't hold up in the desert!
