Looks Great But Look Elsewhere

2011 Dodge Nitro Heat 4dr SUV 4WD (3.7L 6cyl 4A)
It has a sharp body with aggressive lines but that is where the great qualities end. It has the potential to be a great light SUV with it's size, sharp turning radius, and rear-end that refuses to loose grip but thats where the good qualities end. To create a light SUV dodge has made the front and back seats very compact so its far from roomy. The Nitro's suspension transfers most every bump in the road to the passengers but doesn't have body roll like some SUV's. As the driver you feel unattached to the Nitro with the vague steering and throttle response. Fuel mileage is also a problem since its no better than it's larger Dodge counterparts. In review, light SUV with no real feel or perks.
The looks are by far the greatest thing about the Nitro. It stands out in the crowd of light SUV's and cross-overs where smooth body designs with no features have become the norm. It has a boxy, aggressive, and sporty look. The interior features are also well laid out with everything being within reach of the driver and passenger (probably because you sit right on top of the dash). Plenty of storage around the driver and passenger along with plenty of room in the back and rear seats that fold down flat and back up with ease. At night everything lights up well with all the radio, A/C, and gauges easy to see. Also it seems to have the fastest power windows I've ever seen.
The interior is great except for the seating position which makes the passengers feel squeezed in but this is my smallest problem with the Nitro. The main one's are associated with the drivetrain. During interstate travel the Nitro couldn't decide what gear to run it with it consistently shifting and revving up, and while in town couldn't accelerate to save it's life. The engine noise didn't give much confidence either. The interior controls could be a bit more snappy with most of them feeling broke. The a/c controls, 4-wheel control, and shifter don't feel attached to anything. I would like to feel a nice click when i put it in drive or 4-wheel. Only the parking break had any feel to it.
