I have a 2004 Dodge neon and lately I started hearig a loud rattleing noise comming from the engine area whenever the car is in drive. I had reasontly changed the top and lower right engine mount but that did'nt solve the problem. This sound only happens when in drive not neutral, not reverse and it has started to get louder. I suspect wheel bearings but cant afford to keep guessing. ... Read More
My daughter has a 2004 dodge neon that has a strange sounding idle , like its going to stall but doesn't quite. She says on the highway when going past 80 km it feels like its cutting out at times and sort of bucking. Wondering if this may sound familiar to anyone.

I had been having problems with my 2004 Dodge Neon with just under 70,000 miles on it. Of course I've taken it in several times with the "everything's fine" response. It idles funny when stopped at lights, and sometimes the "engine jumps" (the best way I can describe it). when I'm driving, the engine randomly "jumps", and when i pull in and out of parking spots, it's almost like the engine ... A very cheep and simple way to do it would be to find a neon in a junk yard there with the gauges you want. Pull the gauges and install them into your car. You'll probably also need to pull the pulse generator out of the junked car and put it in yours. It's not that hard to do and there should be diagrams online to show you where/how to do ... Read More
PRETTY MUCH THE SAME FOR ALL NEONS NOT JUST SRT'S, THE BEST WAY TO HELP THIS ISSUE IS LIGHTEN UP THE DRAG ON THE ENGINE SO IT HAS MORE POWER, THE MORE POWER THE LESS YOU HAVE TO PUSH THE PEDAL, I KNOW OF WHAT I DID TO MY 97 TO HELP IT OUT. 1. AFTER MARKET PULLEYS, LIGHTER AND SMALLER, WHICH HELPS THE ENGINE A WHOLE LOT, 2. LIGHTWEIGHT FLYWEEL. ... Read More
I have a 2004 Dodge Neon SXT that I want to make some changes to. First off, I would like to change the speedometer background disk from miles to kph (I'm in Germany with the military). Second, I would like to install a wiper on the rear window. Is any of this possible, and if so, where can I get additional information and parts about it? Thank you so much for ... Read More
I just purchased a 2004 Neon SXT. So far, I am getting 15 mpg in the city. Any ideas what could be wrong? I can't keep the car if I get this kind of mileage! I live in FL and the AC will be on for 11 out of 12 months!
We have owned three Neons a 1996, 2001 and a 2004. All have gotten more than 33 miles a gallon on a trip. The back seat was for children only as it is a tight squeeze. But the car was less than 2700lbs and the engine with a real automatic transmission worked great. We still have the 1996 and it has 195700 miles on it. I know that a Jeep Compass ... Read More
I drive a 2002 SXT and you are getting better MPG than I am, I am averaging 24 MPG. I wish that I could get better MPG myself. Can anyone help us?
I have a 2004 Dodge Neon, it is well maintained and has about 37000 miles on it. I get an average of 28 mpg, and that is all highway. It doesn't matter if I'm going 70 mph, or 80, it is the same...crappy! I've taken it to the dealer, and they say that is the way the vehicle is. Does anyone else have any suggestion or similar stories, I'm wondering if ... Read More
monkey7312: I doubt that will happen. But a funny thing happened yesterday while our daughter was on her way to Wed. night Church. She got to use the air bags on our 2004 Dodge Neon. They hit her hard in the face and chest! Now mind ya these are the "New Generation" air bag. These come out softer and easier. The ones in 1995 to 2000 have to Old design which ... Read More
We have a 2004 Neon SXT automatic. We have 38,000miles on it and the ONLY problem has been a CD player that kept holding on to the CD for a day or so. The CD player was replaced by the dealer under the 7/70. We have had three Dodge Neons. We still have a 96 Dodge neon with 178,000 miles on the original engine. The gas mileage is still about 30mpg ... Read More
We have a 2004 SXT. Consistently we get 31 to 32mpg. At times when we have 4 in the car and a full trunk, going against the wing we have gotten as bad as 28mpg. We use BP 87 octane and mobil 5-30 at the dealer. I change oil every 4 to 5,000 miles. We have 35,000 miles on it with original plugs. I dumped the oe tires at 8,000 miles ... Read More
Hi, I own a 2004 Cavalier and my son owns a 2004 Dodge Neon. I have had no problems with my Cavalier since I purchased it, but my son's Neon has been in the shop many times. I get better gas mileage than he does and I have the bigger engine. You be the judge.
I recently purchased a 2004 Dodge Neon that has radio reception problems. I tried another antenna and that did not seem to work. I have heard there may be some ground strap issues? If anyone has had this problem or can direct me to a fix for this problem, I would appreciate it.
We got our 2004 Neon SXT late July 2004. We have almost 22,000 miles on it now. The only thing done has been reseting the left tire rod was not done correct at the factory, and that was done at less than 1,000 miles. This is our 3rd Neon, we still have a 96 with 175,000 miles on it, and we had a 2001. Of all this 2004 is the best. ... Read More
I almost bought an SRT4 this weekend. Two weeks ago, they were selling at Glendale Dodge in So. CA for retail plus $2000 dealer mark up. One week later same dealer advertised them in the LA Times for $2500 below retail, totaling $17,500 after the dealer discount, but only "1 available at this price." This last weekend they advertised it for the same $2500 below retail, but this time "not just ... Read More
