hey every one tells me not to get an dodge intrepid cuz of engine failur and did mercedes ever buy out dodge intrepid? If you can find one that's been well-maintained and not too high-mileage, an Intrepid can be a good car. Personally, if I were searching one out, I'd try to find one with the 3.2 or 3.5, as they're better engines than the 2.7. More powerful, almost as economical, ... Read More
I have installed a 2.7L engine into a 1999 Dodge Intrepid, the company I purchased the engine from said this engine was out of a 1999 Intrepid, couldn't get the car to start, pull the cam sensor out that came with the engine an had the dealership search out the part #, turns out the engine came out of a 2003-2004 Dodge Stratus same size engine 2.7L, Question is can I still ... I'm just wondering what anyone else's experiences are with Intrepids of this age that have had to spend their life outside in northeast winters. Is my experience typical? Do they just start to fall apart at a point? Well, I hate to say it but that whole thing about the body falling apart around a bulletproof engine has been a bit of a Mopar trademark since 1957! :P There was an ... Read More
The 2.7 in my aunt's Stratus is just about to turn 80K. The base Intrepid 2.7, about two years older, is just over 100K. The Intrepid is a 98, the Stratus is a 2000 (if memory serves). We're a large family and have quite a few Chrysler Corp. vehicles in our midst. Some of this is attributable to family history and some to my brother's stint as a Dodge sales manager ... Read More
I have a 2003 Dodge intrepid SE. I have a problem with it. At no certain speed, I have a high pitched whistle that sounds more like radio feedback (like when you put two walkie talkies together, or a PA system when your to close to the microphone). It is an intermittent problem, but appears to only rear its ugly head when the dealer doesn't have the automobile. I am open ... Read More
I didnt have much of a choice if i wanted to keep the price down. It was too late to order a 2003 as the 2003 model year was very short and the 04's are out now. Dodge is offering $4,500 dealer cash on all leftover 02's. Plus dealer discount and most dealers are willing to give up most of their holdback on 02's. So I found mine in CT. I ... Read More
Yes, the Intrepid name may disappear. The new replacement will be RWD, and will be the last to come to market in 2005 as either a 2005 or 2006 model. It's replacement was originally set to be the Super 8 Hemi concept car, but that car got such a terrible response, they went back to the drawing board and started completely over from scratch. This is also why the new replacement ... Read More
Hey gang, I just got this snippet from my Mopar mailing list... "For those interested: Dodge will be back in the squad business for 2002. For 2002 and 2003 the Intrepid police package will be FWD and have the 3.5L-V6. For 2004 the new Intrepid will see police service as a RWD police package with the 353 V8. Mopar is doing this for 2002 and 2003 to prepare for the real ... Read More
