louisiana has the worst roads. my car has 100000 miles, and the only things that r wrong is the shocks are a bit old, brakes need to be changed, and the a/c went out. a/c cost $800! and battery post was causing false dash signals, in particular the oil light. I fill the tank for $24 dollars. i love the V6, but the headlight lens is foggy. Beautiful car. 16 inch rims, blue speckled paint. You can fit 4 bodies in the trunk. dont ask me how i know that. safety feature in the trunk that allows you to open it from the inside. cant do much mud riding, but great on the highway. oh driver window rattles when lowered.
Favorite Features
i like the space and the body the most.
Suggested Improvements
would be nice if it were raised 4 inches higher. louisiana roads are plagued with ruts and dips.
Nothing but problems

After reading all of these reviews from when people first bought their Intrepid I'd like to hear from anyone that still owns a 2.7 L. I bought mine used with low miles and thought I got a deal. Then the problems started. Water pump, timing chain, tensioners and on and on. I believe the 2.7 is a lemon.
Favorite Features
Suggested Improvements
An improvement would be Dodge owning up to the fact that the 2.7 L engine is junk and helping those of us out here that are stuck with one.

Several months ago I purchased my first Dodge vehicle (2002 Intrepid R/T) Man...I must have been living under a rock! This car is awesome! I'm 6'5 and have a traveling job. This car has it all; style, performance, comfort, safety & reliability. If you can find one of these cars, I recommend that you buy it.
Favorite Features
Style, Leg Room
Suggested Improvements
A little noisy but tolerable.

I purchased this car after my 2001 Chrysler Concorde was hit by an off-duty cop. The 3.5 L motor is the best. Great power, high MPG (25 MPG in Denver, 30 MPG on highway). Highly reliable and extremely comfortable. I wish Dodge/Chrysler hadn't quit making this car - it is much roomier than the Charger/300 replacement. I put 18K on the car each year and not problems whatsoever. If you find one that has been maintained (I'm a mechanic) you'll be pleased.
Favorite Features
Roominess in the interior, outstanding power and efficient 3.5 L V-6. Great cruiser for a family with a large trunk. Traction and handling in Colorado winters is amazing - no problems whatsoever - just wish it didn't ride quite as low to the ground.
Suggested Improvements
Only wish this car was still manufactured. It is a great vehicle (if maintained like you should do with any car), and rides like a dream.

Awesome car

My dad got the car with 20K miles on it when it was 2 years old. and not a single scratch or dent. We never had any problems besides the O2 sensor went out. We took this car to Denver from Twinfalls, Idaho. and to Portland Oregon several times. Now that it has 110K miles on it I own it now and the power, looks, reliability, and Gas mileage is awesome. This car with the 3.8 gives most V8s a run for their money. Even after my mom wrecked it its still been an awesome car i have put 22,000 mi on it and had to replace the rear brakes thats all!
Favorite Features
Lots of room, power, acceleration.
Suggested Improvements
None to complain! 10x better than my 98 Buick Lacrosse

I got this car at 36000 miles. Three months later, the water pump went out (it was so bad that all of the fluid would come out as soon as I out it in). The thermostat was replaced twice and needs it done again. The dome lights in the car blink on and off. Sometimes staying on for more than 15mins ( I was told it was the DCM). The car overheated and they don't know why. The oil light comes on and off. All in all I do like the car, I just wish there weren't so many problems.
Favorite Features
The dark blue color, mpg, silent car, rides nice, like body style, amount of room. Super big trunk.
Suggested Improvements
The warranty should cover more like the DCM. A CD player would be nice. I hate the wheel covers.

I've driven intrepids for years. The first was a 1995 se model. I love the safety and security of a larger car, and finally found one with the handling and performance to match. When the time came for a new car, I knew I wanted to try the second generation intrepid. I put over 200k on the 1995 model, so I had no doubts about buying another one. So I went with a 2002 Intrepid se. The performance and handling were drastically improved, which was suprising sice they were already fabulous. Not to mention the sleek new exterior, and finally, awesome headlights. Dodge made all the right improvements to this car. The only complaint I have is that they were discontinued after 2004.
Favorite Features
Exterior styling, interior room, trunk room, performance, handling, dashboard guages
Suggested Improvements
Maybe a little more low-end horsepower and torque

2002 Dodge Intrepid ES 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 4A)
Review
I purchased this vehicle used one year ago and have put 19,000 miles on it since then. Absolutely no problems whatsover. Great handling on dry, wet, and snowy roads. Very good fuel economy (24MPG average communting in town). 3.5L motor is a true workhorse, with lots of power if you need it, but quiet cruising at 85MPH on the interstate. More room inside than the new Charger. I expect this car to give me at least 100,000 more miles without a problem.
Favorite Features
Exterior styling, comfortable seats, good (but not great) sound system, tremendous rear seat legroom for adults, fold down rear seats that open into the trunk.
Suggested Improvements
Auto HVAC sometimes turns cold when hear is needed, but is easy to adjust in manual mode. Improve the sound system to match the newer vehicles.

Review
I just purchased a used Dodge Intrepid because the 1994 Intrepid I owned was totaled while parked in front of my home. So far I am very satisfied with the 2002. It has a comfortable ride, gas mileage is acceptable and I am looking forward to a good ownership with the vehicle. I also purchase an additional warranty just in case.
Favorite Features
Roomy interior. Body style. Roomy trunk. Easy to handle.
Suggested Improvements
Better air conditioning delivered to passengers in back seats.
