    Hi! I just rebuilt my original 2.7 engine in my 2000 dodge intrepid and am having the exact same problem. Have you come up with a solution yet?

    Your father-in-law is incorrect unless he was discussing the CV joint boot. Although while replacing the tie rod ends would be a good time to closely inspect the CV joints for boot tears, there is no need to replace CV shafts unless there is a genuine concern. Popping or cracking noises on accelerated turns from a stop would be the most noticeable concern. You can replace the tie rod ends only, ... Read More

    if the info provided is correct...no! the cv joints will never need replacing unless when you stop, fully turn the wheel start to drive and get the load click click click noise. tie rods and tie rod bushings have nothing to do with the cv joints

    on Tuesday I am having my tie rod bushings replaced as per my mechanic, however my father in-law said that when replacing these the CV joint usually will need replacing too (as in is a must do) is this true? or can I have just the tie rod bushing replaced?

    finally got a tranny out of a 2002 dodge intrepid to put in my 2002 dodge intrepid i put it in and all works fine the tranny cost me around 100 and i put it in myself which took me a few days because im a backyard mechanic with not so good tools it was a b---- but finally its running and drivable again.

    Hi everyone - new to this site. I have a 2002 Dodge Intrepid. The fascia and rear bumper needs repainting. I've done this the past two years using Dodge factory basecoat and clearcoat - results have not been good.     What state do you live in? If your talking about resetting the codes it can be done at any Autozone for free. They will come out and hook hook up the OBDII code reader it has an erase button.

    i just bought a 2001 intrepid with a 2.7 engine and i had the same oil light problem but i had the engine flush twice inside so it clean up all the sludge and i put in a 5/20 syntetic oil and is been a week everything seems ok no more oil flicking at idle and the engine runs smooth.hope it helps what i did,bye Tony.

    Was the oil pressure good? Gotta start there!!!! Do not run the 2.7 with low pressure.

    Thanks for the quick reply. I went ahead and replaced the sending unit yesterday, but that did not solve the problem. I did not replace the wire though -- I am wondering if that is still applicable to 2002 models. Jim

    Have the oil pressure checked. Even if your model has the improved harness the sending unit could be bad. Not a big $$ repair. About $100 at a dealership. Good luck.
