Mine is a 99 so there may be a difference but think about it. The section the cap fits onto has to flow into the rest of the system. If it didnt there would be no need for a pressurized cap, actually you wouldnt need a cap at all. Also dodge is really bad about selling specialized tools most dealerships have just refused to sell them to me. Try this site ... Read More

I found out that the intrepid overflow bottle has a 3" section where the cap fits on and the rest of the tank is sealed and is used for the purpose of mountig the tab to mount the bottle to the strut tower. Had me going.. It says on the tank itself to use a miller tool to refill...I called 2 dealers and they never heard of a miller tool...Makes you ... Read More

The 2001 and 1997 are two different types of intrepids. The original LH models (Intrepid/Vision/Concorde) run ended with the 1997 models. The second generation started with the 1998s. The engines are completely different. I think changing the 3.2 into a 1997 would be a lot of trouble. You need to get an engine from one of the first generation models.

Re: 2000 INTREPID...WATER IN CAR??? [edtb]
Written by: anet on Oct 24, 2005 9:56:55 AM
2001 Dodge Intrepid has water leaking onto the floor of driver’s side of car. The car was taken to the Luther Brookdale Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge dealership. They said a gromet around the shift cable was out of position causing water to leak. They said they repositioned the shift cable gromet. Water is still leaking onto the floor of driver’s side of car. The car was taken back to the Luther Brookdale Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge dealership. ... Read More

I have the same exact poblem. Water leaks onto the floor, drivers side during heavy rains. I can't figure out where it is coming in from. (2001 Dodge Intrepid) This needs to be fixed soon as it will surly rot the floor boards. Did you find the source of your leak??

I'd go with a 3.2 or a 3.5, instead of a 2.7. While the 2.7 in my Intrepid has been reliable, in some situations, such as long mountain grades, putting 3-4 additional passenger in it, etc, it tends to start straining. The 3.2 has 25 more hp and 35 more ft-lb of torque, which makes a big difference. And the 3.5 is better still, putting out anywhere from 234-250 hp, and ... Read More

The 2.7L V6 engine has a timing chain. DaimlerChrysler recommends that you have the chain inspected at approximately 105,000 miles to determine if it needs to be changed or adjusted. Dodge Intrepid Air Conditioners

I know the 1st generation Intrepids were notorious for having shitty a/c systems, I know from experience having owned two, a 94 and a 95 ES. I am considering continuing my Intrepid epic with the purchase of a 2001 SE (I'm getting an exceptional deal on the car) and I'm wondering if anyone has experienced problems with expansion valves or the compressors on the 2001 Intrepids?

2001 Intrepid Program Cars

I am not certain about the rest of the country, but here in the Kansas City area, every Dodge/Chrysler dealer is advertising 2001 Intrepid SE program cars for prices from $11,998 to $13,998, with most priced at the lower figure. Mileage on these cars runs from high teens to mid 20's. Some have power seats, but most come with just the standard items. Balance of factory warranty intact. Based on the ... Read More

Windshield??????

Ok, why do all Intrepids, Concordes and such have bad windshields. I just recently received a 2001 Intrepid for a work car and have to turn it back in because of the windshield. What I mean is, did Dodge in there infinite wisdom polarize the windshield to the extreme to reduce glare or something. Its like looking through the old glass settled wavy windows at my granmothers house. I thought it ... Read More

2001 Dodge Intrepid SE?

After looking at a used 1997 Eagle Vision TSi at my local Dodge dealer for my wife I finally have decided to pass on it. Hey Gang. It's been a while. Just wanted to bring you up to speed on my 2000 Intrepid ES. On February 13th, an elderly neighbor ran a stop sign and we "met by accident". In what can only be described as "precision driving"--she ran the stop sign and I impacted her Dodge Caravan in the mid section. Yup--we put the "T" in "T-Bone". We drove a 2001 RT and an SLT, and decided the RT package wasn't really worth the extra $1,200 or so. 300M Quality vs Dodge Intrepid

I've mentioned here before that my parents have an early production 99 300M, now with about 30,000 miles on it. I've driven it a number of times and I think the assertion that the 300M is of better build quality than an Intrepid is utter BS. While my folks like their 300, it has had a number of "build" problems that have needed correction, far more than my lowly Intrepdi. The ... Read More
