It is a well designed car and powerful.
However, there are many mechanical
problems. The steering locked in a
circle when turning. The windows fog up
all the time. The worst problem was
when both of my front tie-rods broke
off the rack completely disabling my
steering after only 50000 miles.
Fortunately, I was only pulling away
from the curb, or otherwise there may
have been a potentially fatal accident
from a instantaneous loss of steering.
I was told that my bushings had worn
out and transferred the force to my tie-
The interior space is huge both for
passengers and trunk cargo.
The battery should not be buried under
other things. The front end steering
assembly is very questionable for
safety and reliability.
This has got to be the roomiest car I
have ever seen. I love the design and
just overall look of it. If you need to
get up and go--this car will do it. I
have no complaints on this car. I used
to own a firebird and this car is just
as quick and sleek looking, but better
for me now that I have a family. Just
overall an awesome car.
My favorite feature has got to be the
biggest trunk in the world. It holds
everything. I can put my
stroller,groceries,diaper bag and more
at one time in that big jewell. It's
My car didn't come with a cd player so
thats my only complaint.
I have owned my Intrepid ES for four
years now. It is a great car and very
reliable. I would put it up against
any Japanese car in its class. I laugh
at my co-workers who drive Japanese cars
like the Accord, whos doors "ting" when
you close them. This car is solid, and
well styled, unlike the boring Camary
which people sadly buy for whatever
Very comfortable ride. It floats like a
boat, and hugs the road. Best of all,
check the trunk out. It's huge! It's
rear seat fits three adults very
None. I'm upset they are discontinuing
it and replacing it with a rear wheel drive.
This is the best car I have ever
drivenon ice or wind especially in the
Columbia River Gorge. It holds the
road very well and love the styling
and wide track. I've heard rumors that
they are going to replace it with
another modle. I hope they will keep
the Intrepid line and styling.
Like the body styling, fun and
relaxing to drive. Just a great car
overall and have heard many owners
speak well of the Intrepid.
Have had three so far. 1994 had many
problems. 1997 was flawless. This one
has been the same. No problems and a
nice, large, car that is sporty and
fun to drive. Added a California wing
(low arch) to the back and this car
looks like twice the price. We plan on
keeping this one for several more
years as we have added a '03 AWD
Caravan ES to the "stable" and it is
getting most of the daily driver use.
Suspension is awesome. Silky smooth
yet capable of aggressive cornering.
Handles rough spots through corners
with ease. The transmission is as nice
as it gets. Slick, quick shifts that
are almost imperceptible. I really
like this car.
The 3.2 was the top engine for a 2000
ES. They have since added the 3.5 and
that is a good thing. Partial throttle
torque was lacking. Not that the 3.2
is bad...I was used to the torque that
the old 3.5 had in my 94 and 97 and
this one doesn't have it at low revs.
