Not much to add to our previous reviews at 1 and 2 years. Very good experience in almost all respects. 10k miles after brake rotor and pad replacement, we were back to vibration due to uneven wear. I don't think our driving is to blame, and the only thing the dealer could offer was live with it. We have, not a big deal, but it shouldn't be that way. There were a couple of interior trim and upholstery details that are showing wear sooner than they should have. Other than that, it's been good. If it keeps on like this, we'll see how much past 150k we can get. Still consider we made the right choice.
Engine very smooth. Features and controls are still just what we want. Great soccer/long-trip/vacation van.
Brake vibration seems like a very common Dodge GC complaint. Own up to the problem and offer a fix.
Replaced all four brake pads and rotors after 50k miles. Front had more then 6mm left while rear were closer to 3mm in thickness. Replaced with PowerStop rotors and ceramic pads. Had to replace front pads after only 15k miles. Rear ones were still like new. At 73k check engine went on and front (left) cylinder head was replaced under warranty. Also, upstream left O2 sensor was replaced. Still going strong. Very satisfied.
Stow n Go. Heated steering wheel and front/rear seats. Dual monitor setup. Stow n Go cross bars.
Better milage. Current actual average MPG is 20.88. Best milage was 27.04, worst 16.35. Refine transmission - not smooth shifting when Eco mode is on. Hybrid drive would be the best use for this type of vehicle.
Since our review a year ago, it's mostly been great.
The one issue was a second "clockspring" wiring harness in the steering column going bad early in the second year, right after the first had been replaced.
Pretty sure that was because the dealer didn't install it right.
At any rate, it was replaced and has been fine for over a year.
Nothing else has gone wrong.
All in all a very well thought out van.
Our car history has been that around or before ten years of ownership some dipstick rear ends us at stop sign/light and the car is totaled.
This is probably our last van and we're hoping after the kids have left to make it a kayak hauler/camping van and drive till it won't go anymore.
Still great to drive for a van, and the Crew package still seems to have been a good balance of features and value. Been great for long vacation trips (we've done three 1.5k and one 3k mile trips), with mileage averaging about 23-23.5 per gallon.
17-19 miles/gallon local.
It's also been a great soccer/swim-parent van.
Have installed a trailer hitch but it hasn't seen much use.
I've had a couple of flat tires owing to road debris, so had occasion to find the tools (and instructions!) handy for that.
The Stow and Go seating and the 4x8 foot cargo area that results have been more frequently useful than expected.
I still wish the exterior styling wasn't so utilitarian, but that's a minor point.
And though this is our second good experience with a Dodge GC, we probably don't have quite the peace of mind that Honda and Toyota owners have - but then we paid quite a bit less then they did, too. Dodge dealer maintenance charges can be high - we have another mechanic we use.
No serious problems so far. There is a profound wind noise next to the upper doors' corner when windy. Also, when raining, water collects inside the cavity of left side rear view mirror making "running water" noise. Performed M38 transmission update and it shifts better. Needs more improvements though. Noticed a small stain of oil sediment text to the head gasket 4th cylinder. Will keep monitoring. There is a vibration on steering wheel with moderate braking. With heavy braking there is no problem. Michelin tires are good match for this minivan. Drives very good. Quiet inside. Everything in working order. Average MPG: 19.5 (city). On freeway, best was 24.3 at 75mph. Overall - very satisfied.
Powerfull engine. Maybe too powerfull for minivan. Stow N Go seats. Removable center console. Halo light. Sun shades on rear. Heated steering wheel. Stow N Go cross bars.
Transmission! Worst part of the minivan. Period. MPG is very bad with and w/o Eco mode. Antirust protection. There are areas prone to rust - yet not protected. Brakes - 6mm (rear)-7mm(front) thick after 30K miles. This is good. Bad is vibration coming out when braking. And finally: Dealerships - service and everything else. Incompetence and denials are widespread. They try to compensate for missing knowledge with denials. You have to act very rude for them to listen.
This is an update to our previous reviews, and we remain very satisfied.
The only problem we've had was intermittent cruise control at about 12K miles, which was fixed with replacement of the "clock-spring" wiring in the steering column, under warranty.
It's been great as a daily driver, for long family trips, and loaded with kids for school field trips, soccer games, and the like.
We've learned having the luggage rails up needlessly reduces mileage by nearly 2 mpg on long trips.
This has been a exceptional, high-mileage year for us:
we should be driving a bit less from now on, and plan on having the car for ten years or so.
Road feel, engine power and smoothness, interior room, interior design and features, satellite radio.
Excels on long family trips.
Still think it'd be nice if the exterior looked less like a refrigerator.
