Rust badly!
By oh_mom on
Vehicle
2006 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT 4dr Ext Minivan (3.8L 6cyl 4A)
Review
Bought used in 2009 and started to rust badly around the wheel wells about a year later. It was still under warranty, so they repaired it, but it came back in the same place. They repaired it again and it came back yet again in the exact spot they "repaired." It is now out of warranty and the dealership won't return our calls. We contacted Chrysler and for the past 2 weeks, they have been "looking into it." The only other issue we have is that driver side passenger door sticks/jams upon opening. Overall, it seems to be mechanically solid. However, the rust issue is serious enough that we are looking at getting rid of it. And we will NEVER purchase a Chrysler product again.
Favorite Features
Stow and Go seating is awesome. Very spacious.
Suggested Improvements
Fix the rust issue! It seems to be a problem on almost every older model caravan I see. Chrysler needs to address this; it is not right that they continue to sell vehicles with such a pervasive (and expensive) problem.

First, I have no clue how you could give this Dodge van a 3.5 out of 5 star rating. In complete and utter candidness, it's a 3 star on its best day and realistically if you're talking about quality and reliability then it's somewhere between 1-2 star. No doubt, Dodge's are total pieces! You should be thankful you didn't replace your entire transmission at 55k miles! Kiss $3k goodbye at trans shop or $5k goodbye at dealership. Not to mention, probably another $2-3k worth of various repairs between 50-85k miles. Instead of taking our words for it, ANYONE - please please please call your local auto mechanic shops before buying a Dodge and ask them about the tragic and horrific reliability issues with their transmissions. So what ever you do, don't buy a Dodge - period.
