2005 Dodge Grand Caravan SE 4dr Ext Minivan (3.3L 6cyl 4A)
I bought this van about one year ago. It replaces a 2001 Honda Civic, which was not all that reliable. It was a great value. For the same money, a Toyota or Honda would have been twice as old and had at least twice the miles. Does that really make sense? As someone who as owned Honda and Toyota, I say no. So far, reliability has been great. A corroded battery cable, not unusual for that mileage, has been the only problem. Fuel mileage is good considering its size and it is a great road vehicle. Don't care for the 2nd row Stow and Go. Storage is nice but the seats are not very comfortable for adults. Build quality is just OK but as a whole, this van works pretty well.
Front legroom, storage. Better able to safely handle weight than Japanese vans due to rear suspension design, which keeps tires square to the road when loaded down. A lot of vehicle for the money. JD Power shows it to have similar reliability to an Odyssey (2005 models). I don't dispute that.
Rear legroom and comfort (non Stow and Go is much better). Build quality could be better, which would also help resale. And can anybody help with the stigma of driving a minivan?
