The entire cluster freaks out, the air flow stops, the radio shorts out, the headlights flicker continuously, and the warning lights come on and the van makes that 'ding' noise (like when you leave the key in). the P016 error with missing above 3500 rpm is the crankshaft flex plate (flywheel) that is cracked and the crankshaft position sensor is back there getting information from the flex plate. Grand Caravan SE changed to Stow and Go first part of February when the base price increased from $21,735 to $22,735 with the "28 J" pkg. That was AT LEAST the 4th price increase for the 2005 GC SE since it was introduced. The 5th price increase now has base GC SE at $22,820 plus the destination fee increased to $730.

I had narrowed it down to the Ody LX, the Sienna LE, the T&C Touring or the GC SXT. Mr. "ahzoo" and I started test driving last Saturday and finished today with the Ody, The T&C and a third drive in the GC. Here's what I think I need ... Read More

The 2005 DC has definitely more noise at acceleration than the models before. Even though Chrysler claims that they are 16% quieter than the older models. I guess you'll not be able to notice that from one short test drive, but I'm driving both almost daily, so I see the difference. And it's not only me, even Consumer Reports agrees to that. I agree with that--although as the current owner of a 2003 Chrysler van, I know as well as you do that the 2005 Grand Caravan has some issues. Honda has also stepped up and equipped the Odyssey LX VERY well with most of the nice features for the same money as a Grand Caravan SXT.
