..need a truck for my biz cuz my 1998 Chevy C/K 1500 has 250,000+ miles on it..and truthfully, I'm AMAZED it lasted this long (only reason I've kept it this long is cuz it has a $3000 rail liftgate on back..and come to think of it I think I'll go BACK to Chevy ASAP) ..so I'm looking for good solid used SUV..and came across what seemed to be a real sweet ... My 2006 Dodge Durango ADVENTURER 5.7L A/C Condenser Fan Motor keeps running or remaining on more than 30 minutes after I shut the vehicle off. I keeps running the battery dead. I don't know if I should replace the fan motor, or if a sensor is going bad. Help please!
First off, was it a 4wd or 2wd? What was the mileage? Actually, many of us do have a clue about this. The problem on some first generation Durangos was due to upper ball joints that allowed moisture to enter the joint, displace the grease, and eventually wear out the dry joint (somewhat quickly). The recall was issued around 2005 or 2006 for 2000 - 2003 models, but only 4wd. The ... Read More
I have recently noticed a metalic pinging coming from the undercarriage of my 2006 Durango. The pinging is sporatic (every 5-8 seconds), can be heard when driving the backroads (< 35 mph) and continues after the engine is shut off for a short period. My local mechanic checked it out and identified the ping is coming from the catalytic converter but did not recommend replacing it. He could not determine the ... Read More
Good Luck with Dodge... we have a family friend that also had a Durango, same year as ours and it happened 2 years ago... he's still fighting with them. He's a lawyer, so no legal fees, but a lot of time involved and still not getting anywhere. I sent a email to Dodge over a month ago and no response still... I'm going to start emailing them every day until I ... Read More

So what happened? I am having the same issue with my 2003 Durango. Either cold in back or front, but not both. Did the dealers solution solve the problem?
I also have a 2004 Dodge Durango that makes a Humming sound after turning the ignition off. The sound seems to come from the exhaust system just in front of the transmission and lasts from 8 to12 seconds. 5.7Lhemi w/164,000 miles. Any ideas ?? Exaust gasket, cat converter, erg system?? Exhaust flow seems strong, no engine lights, runs cool, good fuel mileage, norm eng temp.
Hello fellow dodge drivers, I would like to first say i've been a chysler owner for 5 years now, and ive always liked there products, I recently bought a 2006 dodge durango with the 5.7 hemi. First month i owned this truck I loved it, then the 2nd month it started to skip ocasionally. Took it to the dealer they said it was a bad coil pack, they replaced it and ... Read More
Replace the expansion valve in the front, this is where you get the cold air, this turns the liquid into gas, also, replace the dryer too, this will keep the moister out of the system.
We are having the same problem but the emission light goes on and off. When the emission light goes off, the vehicle drives normal. I have no clue what it could be! Does anyone have any answers?
assuming its an automatic, I suspect the torque converter or the tranny soft pack (belts etc.). Good you have the warranty. This could be 1000's to repair.
I was driving last night and it felt like the entire front end fell into a pot hole. I even looked behind me to see what happened. Then I realized that it was not the street, it was the engine then the emission light came on. The Durango did not make any bad noise, did not blow smoke, nothing leaked out of the bottom and the MANUAL said it was ok ... Read More
Hi all.. I have a Dodge Durango 2006... I got the code P0432... Is this the 02 sensor? Where is the sensor located? Any detailed help would e greatly appreciated.. Thanks
I have a 2003 Durango, our air worked fine last year. Just like two others I've read here, we also lost cold air up-front, but cold in back. Everything works fine other than no a/c up-front. We went to the dealership today for dioagnostics. We found that the front expansion valve is restricted, this cost us $75.00 to find out. The repair bill will be around $308.00 minus the $75.00 for ... Read More
Well we know we don't have a leak in the compressor because the compressor is cooling the rear cabin perfectly fine. The freon is not low, we have had it charged and it wouldn't even take a charge from the can and the gauges all show full.Unfortunately it is just the front cabin that is not cooling.Still trying to find the problem. Thanks!
we have a 2005 durango. at 59,000 miles, our compressor went out. fortunately we had a service contract to cover the $700+ repair. a few weeks ago, we took it in again (now 75k miles) and were told the evaporator was leaking. the dealer said it would be about $1200 to repair. at the advice of a friend, i took it to an independent mechanic who did work for him to ... I am also a 2006 Dodge Durango owner with this new problem that just began two weeks ago. My air conditioner worked great in the morning on my way to work. I came out at the end of the day and turned it on and it blew hot/warm air from the front cabin vents and the rear control is blowing very very cold air. My husband checked the freon and did ... OK, I have a problem that recently just started with our 2006 Dodge Durango. The A/C in all the vents up front do not blow cold air even though the A/C is turned on, however, the vents for thw back seats all blow ice cold air. Any ideas?
I think I have the same problem. Where the ac is on and blowing cold air then next thing you know it is not cold air, its just air blowing. It comes and goes. I had my freon checked today and they said it was full, so I dunno, Mine is a 2006 durango. Has anyone found what could be causing this yet? I like to fix things myself so simple ... Read More
I have a 2004 Dodge Durango and also am experiencing a loud hum AFTER I turn off the ignition. Did you have any luck in finding the cause of the hum in your durango?
I have a 05 Durango and experienced the stalling twice and kind of wrote it off because I had driven long distances, it wasn't until my husband was driving one night, it stalled, lost all power, he told me I needed to take it in. Under warranty, it was the instrument panel, hasn't stalled since! However, the list of other problems goes on. In the year 2007 I was at the ... Read More
Like U have just bought a used 2006 and now that it is dark outside have observed the identical issue, and have read the manual cover to cover. Is / was your problem resolved and if so what was the issue in the end?
We have a 2006 Dodge Durango. We purchased the vehicle used. The only problem with the vehicle so far is that the interior lights do not come on when the doors are opened. We can turn them on manually (by pushing on the lights or associated buttons). I have been through the instruction manual, but can't find anything indicating that there is a dome light override or other feature. The lights ... Read More

I had a recall on my 2006 Durango for the CCN Control Module, which affected the wipers, headlights, and god knows what else. BEFORE, you could go on Dodge's website, and pull up all the recalls. Now you have to put your VIN in. And if they have "fixed" it, it will say, "No Incomplete Recalls or Customer Satisfaction Notifications Exist.". Bull. I'm STILL having issues. But tell them to check ... Read More
I'd be happy to help you out, msusimon. This truck's lease program actually varies by region. The Northeast or Great Lakes regions have a much more attractive lease program on it than the rest of the country does. If you are outside these areas, don't bother leasing one. If you are in one of the regions, according to my calculations, if you were to lease a 2006 Dodge Durango SLT 4WD ... Read More
I was at a local Dodge dealership looking at the 2006 Durango SLT with AWD. The salesperson claimed that an AWD Durango operates via 2WD (i.e. back wheels only) during all normal operations and only goes into AWD when the vehicle senses that AWD is needed. Is this correct or does an AWD Durango use all 4 wheels to propel the vehicle at all times? Also, will the AWD cost me ... Read More
