Reliability Nightmare
Vehicle
2005 Dodge Durango SLT 4WD 4dr SUV (4.7L 8cyl 5A)
Review
This is my second Durango from the same dealer. My first one was returned and replaced due to excessive water leaks that the dealer was unable to fix. My new '05 SLT with Hemi has now had three fuel pumps on it and a new gas tank, and I am extremely dissatisfied and wonder where and when it is going to leave me on the side of the road again. This vehicle has less than 5,000 miles on it and has been in and out of the dealership since I leased it. I wish Dodge would face up to the fact that they have a problem and take steps to rectify.

I love my 2005 SLT Durango. I went with the V6 and love it. It has enough power for me. This is my 1st Dodge. We shopped around and found the Durango to be the best for the price.
Favorite Features
My favorite feature has to be all the controls being right by you, and how much room it has. I really like the style.
Suggested Improvements
I think the back tailgate window should open, and the 3rd row windows should pop open too. Other then that, I love it.
Best All Around SUV

After 3 years of research, watching the market trends, evaluating every manufacturer and feature, I finally found the right price/performance ratio to make me part with my cash. Dodge only makes 1 SUV, and you can tell a lot of thought went into making this work for a wide range of buyers and needs.
Favorite Features
Space, ride, and drive. Rugged construction, and towing capacity. Acceleration, handling, and 3 rows of seating
Suggested Improvements
I don't feel right suggesting improvements. I think all the right compromises were made. I'm confident the right improvements will be made as price and demand make them feasible. Hybrid?

I absolutely love my Durango! My husband had a MINI for about 4 months, and every time I drove that then got into my Durango I fell in love all over again! Reliable, and oh so comfortable. I wouldn't trade it in on anything. The only snafu was my steering wheel started to peel after about a year, but a new one was ordered without a problem. I love the sunroof. There is plenty of room for all 6 of us, yet it's cozy enough when I'm driving alone. A friend has a Suburban, and I don't find that nearly as roomy or comfortable...and the Durango is much more attractive!
Favorite Features
Favorite? The whole thing, really. The roominess, the stereo is amazing- but mostly the handling. It does not feel like an SUV/truck...drives like a car!! The 'wayback' seats are so easy to operate to make more room for beach stuff or luggage.
Suggested Improvements
Hmmm, can't think of any to be honest. It's a dream vehicle for me.

We just got our Durango in May but have already taken it on a vacation and it was great. We had a van before but this is much roomier and drives great. You feel like you're on your living room sofa.
Favorite Features
Power windows, and the big engine which really makes it move.
Suggested Improvements
Even though I like this style, I still like the old style better.

An excellent family vehicle. Dependable with no worries. Clear vision all around and plenty of interior room. Ammenities such as cup holders, 12 volt power outlets and interior lights are plentiful.

This is my first Durango. I was impressed with the quiet, comfort compared to my 97 Astro. We bought it for hauling the grandkids. A third row is a must have with 7, 4, and two year olds.
Favorite Features
4wd, ground clearance, front and rear air.
Suggested Improvements
Must have limited slip for snow and ice on my back country roads. The air cleaner access to the filter could be a little easier. My own gas pump.

After driving a 2003 Explorer for the past two years, the Durango is a dream vehicle. There is no comparison in the engine power, the Hemi is unsurpassed, and the quality and comfort of the interior is absolutly superior to Explorer. I'm averaging 17.4 mi per gallon which is the same as the lesser engine in the Explorer. I took a real hit on the trade for the Explorer, but it was well worth it. You must test drive the '05 Durango with 5.7L Hemi.
Favorite Features
Too many to name all, but the GPS Navigation and auto temp controls are great. Power adjustable foot pedals with 2 person memory is outstanding. I love this vehicle!
Suggested Improvements
Making heated seats standard in the Limited edition.

I have generally owned Fords. After the normal ups and downs of life, I decided to reward myself with a new vehicle. I had been researching for a year and half, looking at Explorers and Escapes, etc. I decided to take a visit to look at Dodge trucks since I have always liked the way they looked. I probably wouldn't have given the Durango a thought, but I really liked the redesigned look over the earlier versions. It is fun to drive and it gives me the leg room that I need. I settled for the standard model, because I prefered the color they had in stock! My only wish is that I had purchased the SLT with the 3rd row seat, running boards, steel rims, and moon roof! Otherwise, it is a joy!
Favorite Features
Power outlets in several places. Handles and drives great.
Suggested Improvements
Really need a rear window that rolls down or opens. It's the one thing I miss from my old Explorer.

I had owned a 2002 Durango for three years. The 2005 Model blows this away. The Hemi has so much power that I was doing 75 mph at 1900 rpm. My best advice is get all the bells and whistles, you'll love it. Much more roomier than the 2002. I had my dealer take 4,000 off sticker and 4,000 rebate. What a deal. Fold up seats are easier to use.
Favorite Features
Hemi, DVD, leather, heated seats, off road tires, overhead console.
Suggested Improvements
A little improvement on the gas mileage
