Hi, Just wondering if anyone else has this problem. My Durango has been running rough on and off for a couple years now. I have to keep replacing the wires. Once I do runs good for a month or two and then back to running badly and the check engine lite comes on. I have repaced caps plugs and all that and also some sensors too.

First off, was it a 4wd or 2wd? What was the mileage? Actually, many of us do have a clue about this. The problem on some first generation Durangos was due to upper ball joints that allowed moisture to enter the joint, displace the grease, and eventually wear out the dry joint (somewhat quickly). The recall was issued around 2005 or 2006 for 2000 - 2003 models, but only 4wd. The ... Read More

The first time it overheated it was on a fairly cool day (I wasn't using the A/C) the temp sensor went off so I pulled to the side of the road. Hmmm........You've already done everything I would have recommended based on your symptoms. It's not losing coolant, right? If not, when it overheats are you sure it's really hot? Not just the gauge or sending unit malfunctioning? Does the overheating occur only during very warm or hot days? One other thing is the water pump, it's just possible that the impeller vanes in the pump are worn down, but that's very remote. ... Read More

I purchased a new 2003 Durango last October and now have almost 10,000 miles on it. It has been a great vehicle so far, needing only routine maintenance (oil changes, tire rotation). My factory CD player is starting to act up intermittently, but that is the only problem I have had. I haven't had it looked at by the dealer yet (I'll probably wait until it constantly malfunctions or totally fails). ... Read More

I know a fellow who has 126K on his 2000 Durango and he's exceptionally happy with his. Yes, he has replaced the upper ball joints, too. I think he said that he had a Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) fail as well. His tranny is solid, no problems. He tows with his, too. Strange thing, I think I remember the interior being slightly different than the same year Dakota for some reason. ... Read More

  • 2004 Durango Review

I found this review at TruckWorld.com. They liked almost everything about the Durango. Their only complaints were: the steeply raked windshield; acceleration pedal travel (they said it might be a preproduction problem); fuel economy with the hemi; a tight third row seat (I believe that this quite odd since the Durango has 34 inches of leg room in the third row; 2 inches more than the Armada and MotorTrend said that ... OK, got my 2003 Durango SLT 4.7. Main reason was so that I could tow my two horses anywhere with little problem and so far so good. I really love it. And the snows are coming. BUt that is another story. What I want to post about here is the problem with the AIR VENTS! From day one they have not worked to full capacity. The two side vents( passenger side ... Read More

  • Durango Pricing

    Written by: oedipus1608 on Oct 18, 2003 7:40:48 PM

The Durango will be the best SUV for the dollar. The new Durango has a base price that is lower than the competion and $1,000 less than last year at $25,000. In addition, the Durango SLT 4x4, which accounts for 40% of sales, starts at $2,000 less than last year. I think that the Durango could rule the midsize and possibly fullsize segments. I am a Dodge dealer in Washington state and to my surprise yesterday I was able to order the all new Durango. Even though Chrysler has not informed the dealer body yet of the change it was very obvious. The new sales code is HB, last year it was AN. The engine choices are 4.7L or 5.7L Hemi. The rear set is split 50/50. The fuel capacity goes from 25 in ... Read More

I have shopped local NJ dealers but if I take 60month zero finance option they are holding to MSRP pricing. I realise dealers probably have to kick back some amount to Dodge if this option used but has anyone got better than MSRP? Thinking of the SXT model pretty basis-MSRP $30235
