1.4 liter turbo Rallye with 6-speed manual
By helilog on
2013 Dodge Dart SXT 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl 6M)
Have owned for 6000 miles, averaging mid 30's mpg overall after accounting for the dash readout error.
Turbo engine is gutsy and quick to rev when on boost.
Turbo lag is a one-count; by the time you count to two the lag is gone.
Car has a couple of mild interior buzzes that come and go according to road texture.
An exterior trim piece or two are slightly misaligned.
Car is good for us for a 500 mile day but the comfy seat cushions could be a bit longer in length to be perfect. Quiet
interior, smooth ride, great handling, strong easily modulated brakes, quick and tactile steering.
Roomy back seat.
Big trunk and the back seat folds down.
No maintenance issues.
This is a driver's car.
The gearshift knob is big, like that from a Hurst, and the linkage is good.
Clutch take up is smooth and easy to control, turbo engine has good throttle response, makes very good power above 2500 rpm and useable power above 1300 rpm in the first three gears.
Highway speed passing power in 3rd or 4th gear is stellar.
The chassis is controlled and responsive.
The engine talks to you via the nice dual exhaust.
Fuel economy is really really good.
This car is far from being a penalty box; I look forward to driving it.
My last sedan was a BMW M5, just to let you know how much I like driving.
A heated steering wheel option in the Rallye would be nice.
Heated seats would be good too in the Rallye but with the cloth upholstery it isn't terribly missed I suppose.
