grumpymike1, I have a 2006 Dodge Dakota that I have only owned for a month. I took it back to the dealership three times for exactly the problem you're describing. I was sure it was having serious transmission problems. In the end they told me that's just the way the Dakota's act in the morning when you first shift into gear it hesitates. How long have you owned your truck?
Hi All, I am a girl and don't know much about vehicles, so please go easy on me! I have a 2006 Dodge Dakota (2WD, 4.7L, V-8) and I am going through calipers like crazy. I have a lifetime warranty on the calipers, but they keep seizing and have to be replaced. I am not unusually hard on my brakes, but the most recent issue left me with the right front ... Read More
2006 Dodge Dakota (75,000 mi)- Two intermittent problems: 1. When I change selector from floor to dash (actually any change), a loud clicking sound starts from the middle of the dash, and may or maynot stop after a while. 2. Fan speed varies although the speed control has not been touched. Any ideas would be appreciated, 'cause I love my truck except for this, thanks
I just had the 42RLE auto trans on my 2006 Dakota changed out at 79K miles. I bought it new, light use, and had the Chrysler dealer do the trans fluid/filter at 30K and 60K, as recommended. I have an excellent (private) mechanic who changed it out for me. I'd rather not ever deal with the Chrysler corporation again. Google in "42RLE" and read about this trans. it wasn't built to ... I think you need to buy the regulator assembly, which includes the motor and the cable assembly. For my 2007 Caravan, that's around $75.00 from on-line places. If your Dakota is like my Caravan, then the cable assembly can be removed from the motor (it bolts to the motor housing with 3 bolts). But, you would have to go to a junk yard, pull the cable assembly or entire regulator from ... Read More
My 2006 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab 3.7L V6 just started doing something similar. The transmission light just came on and after some drive time the temp light comes on. I took it to AAMCO and they said that there were 5 different codes coming up and that it would probably cost about 1800 to fix. I was just wondering what you came up with because I have no idea what I ... Read More
I recently took my truck to jiffy lube because I had no cold air coming from vents. he did diagnostic and said the level in tank was at 0 and he never came across that before. long story short, he filled tank with freon and it held pressure fine. the ac that cost me $150 to fill worked for about 4 days...now nothing. Fans are blowing, light to ac on dash ... Read More
Need help! I recently purchased a 2006 Doge Dakota with a 3.7 litre V- 6 engine with 17,000 miles. There is a ticking sound coming from under the plastic manifold on top of the engine at idle. Does anyone know if this is normal or some kind of valve tap? Also, the engine seems to wonder in RPM's like a variable idle speed...not much, but enough to hear and see it ... Read More
I just popped on here to see if anyone had issues with wheel bearings. I have a 2001 with over 300,000 miles and no issues but.. I have a 2006 with 85000 miles and it is definatly having a growling out of one of the bearings. It does not seam to change when i trow the weight from side to side. I had it to a garage and they can not ... Read More
I have a hesitation around 40mph on level roads. Changed tranny oil, new plugs, air filter, new TPS. No codes tripped. Problem gets worse in hot weather. Dodge garage could not find issue on first visit.....not sure if I want to fork out more money. Any ideas?
My 1998 Dakota Club Cab started going bald a couple of years ago (2006 or so) and now has great balding patches on the hood, roof, "A" pillars and tops of the fenders. It got a new catalytic converter (2 actually) free from Daimler Chrysler, so I was wondering if there is any action with them concerning the paint jobs?
I had same prob with my 2006 Dakota this am. Key does not turn (like it's the wrong key!) I hope the "mallet" suggestion works. This truck is new (only 10,000 mi) I saw another post where a guy had a locksmith fix it...twice!
I'm hoping someone can help me, I own a 2003 Dodge Dakota it came equipped with a 4.7 magnum engine, I had to have the engine replaced and opted for a 4.7 2006 engine. Since the installation I don't have as much power as before, is there a difference in computers between the 2003 and 2006? I have begun to notice when I drive and let off the throttle I get ... I'm desperate and don't know where to turn. In early 2006 we purcahsed a 2005 lease return dodge dakota 4X4 V8. I love my truck but days after driving it off the lot it's had a gremlin in the dashboard. All of a sudden all warning lights will come on along with the chime then everything goes dead. All lights go off, no gas guage, no speedometer, odometer, RPM's, radio, blower ... Read More
I own a 2006 SLT Sport CC Dakota 4.7 and tow a boat and other loads. I also own and tow with a 2006 Nissan Xterra 4.0. The Nissan pulls just as well, and gets avg 19 MPG towing while the Dakota drops to 15 MPG. The Dakota can really haul more on the road but for everyday day driving in town, the Xterra/Frontier 4.0L gets 23 MPG. Great gas mileage ... Read More
I have a 1994 Dodge Dakota SLT auto, 3.9L V6. It will not start. The fuel isn't getting any fire in the combustion chambers. First of all, I want to explain what started this problem, because I am at fault in causing this. When this happened was exactly one year ago. I had a blown fuse in the Under-hood Power distribution center fuse box. It was the "40amp" Ignition system fuse. ... Read More
I've posted four times on this topic (#4288, 4298, 4299 and 4356---and another topic #4227) since June 2006 and it's still happening. My daughter finds that the battery goes dead overnight. She has had the truck checked-over by two local mechanics. The first, said to be an electricals specialist, said he found many misconnections and corrected them. He also found the dome light wire was a continuous 1 ampere drain and ... Read More
I have a 2003 Dodge Dakota 4.7. I took it to the shop and they placed a 2006 4.7 engine in it. The engine runs fine when it's cold but It sounds like it's miss firing when it heats up, also the check engine light flashes until it heats up then remains steady.
Hey roberto8. I believe that Chrysler Financial's February lease program on the 2006 Dodge Dakota is the same as it was last month. DaimlerChrysler did increase its dealer cash incentive on the 2006 Dakota for President's Day to $5,500. Car_man Host Prices Paid Forum
Hey CM, Have the Money Factor changed for Feb., or are there incetives for Presidents Day from Dodge for the 2007 Dakotas? Thanks again for the info above. I will be getting the new Dakota by the end of next week. Cheers :)

Hey roberto8. This truck's lease program varies by term and mileage allowance. For now I will assume that you are interested in a 36 month lease with 15,000 miles per year. I just got back from the middle east and went and picked up my new Dodge Dakota 2006 with a 3.7 V8 Magnum. It had 8 miles on it when I picked it up. I’m not bashing also but being I have a 06 on order with the 4.7HO loaded to the gills, I believe I’m certainly qualify to be here.
