I was sure it was having serious transmission problems. In the end they told me that's just the way the Dakota's act in the morning when you first shift into gear it hesitates. How long have you owned your truck?

2006 Dodge Dakota (75,000 mi)- Two intermittent problems: 1. When I change selector from floor to dash (actually any change), a loud clicking sound starts from the middle of the dash, and may or maynot stop after a while. 2. Fan speed varies although the speed control has not been touched. Any ideas would be appreciated, 'cause I love my truck except for this, thanks

I just had the 42RLE auto trans on my 2006 Dakota changed out at 79K miles. I bought it new, light use, and had the Chrysler dealer do the trans fluid/filter at 30K and 60K, as recommended. I have an excellent (private) mechanic who changed it out for me. I'd rather not ever deal with the Chrysler corporation again. Google in "42RLE" and read about this trans. it wasn't built to ... I think you need to buy the regulator assembly, which includes the motor and the cable assembly. For my 2007 Caravan, that's around $75.00 from on-line places. If your Dakota is like my Caravan, then the cable assembly can be removed from the motor (it bolts to the motor housing with 3 bolts). But, you would have to go to a junk yard, pull the cable assembly or entire regulator from ... Read More
