  • Need Advice Regarding My Fogged Dakota Headlight

Hey everyone. I hope I've posted this in the correct forum section. If not, please forgive me. I couldn't find the troubleshooting/problems section. Anyways, I own a 2005 Dodge Dakota (salvage title, I bought it from a car mechanic off of craigslist), of which the headlight (driver side) has gotten foggy. It's certainly not as transparent as the passenger side light. At first I wasn't sure why one was foggy and ... Read More

When you move it into D..does it drop in rpm first and then stall..or stall immediately as you move the gear shift? Have you tried moving it from park to neutral..what does it do in neutral? There are many reasons for it to stall..something in the transmission is telling the PCM to ... Read More

If you pull the 4WD unit's fuse, it will not engage, so no matter what state it is in (or what the 4WD encoder in the unit thinks it's in) nothing happens until you put the +12 volt fuse back in which starts the process all over again. It's hard to diagnose what the situation is with your 4WD transfer case. From your description, there has to be an anomaly where the power available to the transfer case is controlling the electric motor that engages the 4WD unit. Something is obvious not in a proper state (engage/disengage) and if that is the case..the PCM which is still energized even with the ignition switch off, can be receiving a incorrect ... Read More

"accelerated to 45 MPH at 3700 rpm. When I released the gas pedal it downshifted and felt like "rear end" locked up." 3700 rpm is definitely too high for 45mph. It appears that the PCM is no longer involved with shifting the gear ranges, and it's the hydraulic fluid pump pressure building up, operating the shift valves in the transmission's control valve body. I have a 2005 Dakota SLT Club, v-8, Automatic, 4X4. Had problems with rear brake vibration. Dealer replaced rear axels and drums. Didn't cure braking problem but after replacing rear brakes, cured that problem. But, at the time of axel replacement and drums, vehicle developed a vibration from the right rear. Dealer load balanced tires and found them out of tolarance. Bought new tires and now the tires pass the load ... Read More

Dealer replaced tires, I paid the difference, still vibrates at highway speeds. Gas mileage rating 16-22mpg, would you believe 13.9 mpg highway. Dealer states gas quality is poor. I had a 2000 Toyota Tundra V8 that averaged 16.5 - 17.
