I purchased my Dakota in November of
1998, and will be selling it just short
of 70,000 miles. I do so not because
I've been disappointed with the pickup,
but because returning to college makes
it necessary. I've averaged just short
of 16mpg, at 15.9, with a short list of
modifications. They of course helped
with the power, also, so, they're a
great investment. Intake, headers, new
exhaust. Do it, you'll like the
Strong 5.2L V-8, excellent rear-end,
and smooth ride, even with larger tires
and lift kit. Great look too!
I found the Chrysler paint, i.e. the
clearcoat, to scratch easily. I'm not
sure if this is just a problem with my
pickup, with all 1999's, or a continual
problem with Chrylser, as some people I
know have suggested. Be careful!
