I bought this as a lot leftover in 1996. It has 193 thousand miles on it. Never broke down on me. Lots of power and torque. Exterior still shines. Well worth the money. The only thing it has ever had done was oil changes and the condenser replaced, nothing else. Most miles were around town. The only thing hat I dont like about it is fuel consumption. Interior is built to last forever. This truck will never die
Favorite Features
5.2l v8, 4x4, extended cab, 6ft bed, reliability, lack of maintence work needed
Suggested Improvements

V6, Auto, Purchased with 120k miles, now just past 200k. I have performed regular maintenance. Good solid truck that I have used to tow, commute, travel, and frequently pull my buddies trucks out of the snow banks/mud. Currently on loan to my sister who has discovered that she likes driving it far more than she ever expected. It is finally starting to show rust (darn it). Replaced since purchase: pitman arm, timing chain, water pump, alternator, heater blower, radio, windshield, brakes, shocks, exhaust, all fluids, plugs, wires, coil, and window motor.
Favorite Features
Size, comfort, easy maintenance
Suggested Improvements
Better fuel economy. I have never gotten better than 13mpg

i've had the truck for about 5 months and I love it.. I never owned a Dodge before. Had a Geo Tracker, but I hauled 2 cars to the salvage yard and a Bronco to the mechanics shop. The v6 has the snoot I want and the power I need. I haven't gotten it stuck in mud yet, but I have pulled other people out of the mud trying to follow me. It does stink on gas mileage though. I get maybe 16mpg in the city, but I don't care. It's fun to drive the hog. If someone wants a nice powerful small pickup, I would say grab life by the horns and get a Dodge.
Favorite Features
For being 2wd, I love the traction it has in the mud.
Suggested Improvements
Put bucket seats into the regular cab instead of the bench seat that hurts your back after an hour of driving.
Love It!

My husband bought me this truck because my Chrylser finally died. I'm not a fan of little trucks. I'm more into long cars or full sized trucks like the F-150, or a Bonneville. I wasnt that impressed by the looks, but once I got to drive it, I never want to buy another car again. I'm used to being low, but now I can see everything! Also I own horses, so now I can tow them myself instead of paying someone
Favorite Features
The features that I love has to be the body. Straight, flat front end. It's higher up in the bed. I just love this truck
Suggested Improvements
The only thing that I would improve is the gas mileage. For being a V-8, it a gas hog.

I bought it brand new and besides a new waterpump and a radiator, it has been wonderful. I own a farm and this truck out hauls any Chevy or Ford twice its size. The 318 engine has a lot of power. This truck will really move. Keep the oil changed and this baby will purr! Dodge is all about performance.

My dad first owned the 3.9L V6 Dakota Sport and we went on family vacations and he used it for business. My mom also drove it around to and from work (errands too) for years. The Dodge has been through a lot of travels!! It now has 205,000 miles on it and is running wonderful!! Only normal fixes had to be done. Great truck. Now I own the truck and enjoy it a lot!
Favorite Features
The car-like interior and gentleness of the truck! Beautiful truck
Suggested Improvements
Tire-radius, and needs more speed.

I purchased this truck new and added the extended 7 year 100000 mile warranty. Good thing I did because lots of bugs needed fixing. Some of the items I had problems with was transfer case (Replaced 5 times). Transmission leak had gasket replaced 5 times. Drive shaft joint breakage. Tailgate misaligned, cruise control quit working. Replaced radio 5 times. Despite all these problems I have had the truck 11 years and it now has over 182k miles on it. With a recent tune up on the hwy I was able to get 19mi to the gallon hwy (Over 300mi on a tank of gas). That is good for this truck. Overall I have enjoyed this vehicle because it does deliver the power when needed.
Favorite Features
Exterior style, power, extra seating in rear for kids, dogs, storage.
Suggested Improvements
Quality, manufacture reliability. Better transfer case for the 5.2L V8 to utilize. Better undercarriage design for a 4x4 to not catch on rocks etc...

I bought this truck used with 10k on it. I've had it for 10 years and it's gotten me everywhere I've needed to go. It averages about 22MPG with the 2.5L 4 cyl and 5-speed tranny. It gets me back and forth 20 miles to work and handles what little cargo I do haul easily. It has the original clutch even after a couple of years in San Diego dealing with rush hour traffic. I had to replace the catalytic convertor at 50k, the AC compressor around 70k and the head gasket around 100k. The radio quit just recently and it needs a new headliner. Overall though it's been an efficient, reliable daily driver.
Favorite Features
A good, cost effective vehicle.
