first of all stop throwing parts, would be cheaper to take it to a repair shop! next does your truck have tilt steering or airbag very possible you have a broken wire or bad clockspring in steering column. you need to find what wires come from the switch and check to see if there is an open, broken wire or bad clockspring
First off I have given great advice from being a owner of the hideous 1998 buick regal ls. Just bought this truck yesterday and in desperate need of help. The o/d button on the left side of the steering column is not working at all. I changed the switch and nothing changed. After doing some searching on the net I changed the Speed Sensor and Nuetral Park Sensor on tranny NO ... Read More
I have a 1994 Dodge Dakota SLT with the 3.9 V-6. The truck started fine during the spring, summer and fall. Ever since the weather has turned relly cold, it only wants to start about every two to three days. You can start it up, and drive it to hell and back, and it runs just fine... As long as you don't cut it off... But when you get home, and ... Read More

I have a 1994 Dodge Dakota 4x4 V8. 103,500 miles. Low miles for such an aged vehicle. Recently, the engine has been sputtering at 2000 RPMs and losing power, and when I punch the accelerator to maintain power I get an occasional POP. From time to time, the Check Engine light comes on at the same time that the loss of power is experienced. As I said when I lose power ... Read More

I have a 1994 Dakota that has the 3.9 V-6 with automatic transmission... Can anyone tell me what other Dodge "years" or other Dodge vehicles that the transmissions will interchange in my Dakota? I guess mind is shot and I am wanting to go to the salvage yard and pull one, but don't know what other years or vehicles will interchange. Does anyone know?
I had the same problem... I replaced the computer, the coil, module, rotor button & cap. After all that, still the same problem. No spark from the coil!! Turns out that it was a plug from the crankshaft sensor down at the transmission, It was loose and once i took it apart and put it back togeather....Fired up and runs well. I hope that this will help someone =)

I can jump the fuel pump relay and force it to run but still no spark. Any help would be appreciated. Damguys

One evening, the headlights failed as I was driving home, and I had to use the high beams, though I had to pull back on the dimmer switch manually (for over 10 miles.) As soon as I let go of the switch, the highbeams went off, and they would not stay on by themselves The parking lights and all others are fine. ... Read More

I have a 1994 Dodge Dakota SLT auto, 3.9L V6. It will not start. The fuel isn't getting any fire in the combustion chambers. First of all, I want to explain what started this problem, because I am at fault in causing this. When this happened was exactly one year ago. I had a blown fuse in the Under-hood Power distribution center fuse box. It was the "40amp" Ignition system fuse. ... Read More

malcom1, If you purchased a 1994 Dodge Dakota with a 4.7 V8, hold on to that truck. It will be on display at the Smithsonion Museum, because the 4.7 was not available on the Dakota until the 2000 model year. Full time 4WD is just that, an "on demand" other than 4WD lock and 4WD low range. It differs from the part time 4WD system, as it has a differential within ... Read More
