2013 Dodge Challenger Coupe R/T 2dr Coupe (5.7L 8cyl 6M)

Review

R/T base with the 6spd manual, Sound Group II stereo, HID headlights, and a sunroof. This thing is quick. So far, I've seen an avg. of 4.85 seconds on the 0-60 timer in the info center. The transmission shifts smooth and precise, excellent for stock. Love the pistol grip. The torque curve is as flat as Montana, and twice as big. This thing sounds amazing for a stock exhaust, nice growl under acceleration, but barely audible at highway speeds. Excellent ride quality, and it's library quiet at 70 mph. HID headlights are amazing, both low & high beams. The stereo is also excellent, plenty of bass. Never seen less than 19 mpg, and a peak of 23 so far.

Favorite Features

HEMI, slick shifting 6spd, & that mean exhaust note. 0-60 timer right in the info center (not sure how accurate it is). Excellent gas mileage. Comfortable seats. A 44oz cup will fit in the cup holder, and a second one will also fit securely, albeit at a slight angle. Bluetooth audio works well, and has good sound quality. Huge trunk, room for several bodies. Firm, but compliant ride; it handles the twisties quite well for a 4,000+ lb car. Gotta love the push button starter. The Sound Group II Boston Acoustics stereo is amazing. The HID headlights are bi-xenon (both high & low beams), and they work very well... not just a gimmick. Automatic climate control is a nice luxury feature.

Suggested Improvements

The voice recognition will not recognize the word "home". I had to change it to "house" in my phone. There needs to be a way to turn off the text message alert feature. without losing call functionality. It gets old quick having it break into the music every time I get a text. I disabled text messaging in my phone to solve this, and switched to Google Hangouts instead. Either the steering wheel needs about another 2 or 3" of telescope, or power adjust pedals that will move the same distance toward the firewall would be very nice. The base HEMI needs to come with at least 450 hp. Why do the Ram trucks get 395 hp, and the Challenger only get 375? Why.... WHY?

2013 Dodge Challenger Coupe R/T 2dr Coupe (5.7L 8cyl 6M)

Review

This car had the shifttronic auto :(, but still allowed full rev to each gear and downshifting. Did a 0-60 test, yielded 5.5 with some wheelspin, not bad. Seemingly very powerful. Throws you back when you gas in almost every gear. Passing on the highway is great dropped to third. Very fun car to drive. Fantastic stereo system and Sirius radio. Lots of trunk space. Back seats are actually quite comfortable for me at 6'. Projector beam HID lights for night driving seem adequate. Leather is nice and not too plush for easier care then some competitive Euros like my personal VR6.

Favorite Features

Stereo and Powerhouse. Exterior orange and RT stripes.

Suggested Improvements

I would have opted for a color coded inside to match exterior in key trim pieces. This car had the orange with RT exterior package.

2013 Dodge Challenger Coupe SXT 2dr Coupe (3.6L 6cyl 5A)

Review

I traded in my 2010 Mustang Premium coupe for a 2013 SXT Challenger due to a defect discovered in the Mustang after my warranty conveniently expired. It's a very different ride. I got the rally redline package with all of the bells and whistles. Black with over the top red stripes and 20" tires with red rims. Leather, heated seats, navigation, BA speakers in the trunk, sun roof, reverse sensor to compensate for the blind spot when backing up, proximity keys and touch to start. Very comfortable ride, good pick-up in a straight line. It's got chunky handling around corners at higher speeds- my mustang really gripped the road. Handles much better than the ford in inclement weather. I'm happy.

Favorite Features

Comfortable ride, trunk space, pick-up, touchscreen computer with satelite link / Navigation / HDD (you can download CD's into your personal car-music-library), "sport-mode", 20" red rims on a black car with red stripes, sunroof, leather heated power seats.

Suggested Improvements

Smoother (automatic) gear transition, better corner handling at higher speeds, better interior materials - the plastic on the shifter panel and computer housing looks cheap.

2013 Dodge Challenger Coupe R/T 2dr Coupe (5.7L 8cyl 6M)

Review

Dealer options: Blacktop Package This car totally changes its character with the Super Track Pak (STP). Reviews peg the manual RT as the fat girl of the muscle car bunch. But with the suspension and steering upgrades the Challenger elevates to porn-star like proportions. And it's just as much fun to drive. I was a Japanese import fanboy for +10 years and fantasized about buying a BRZ. However just one test drive in the Dodge changed my mind. Power is sexy, and the RT moves just as well as it looks. Buying a 150ft-lb BRZ over this 410ft-lb beauty would be a mistake; and for the same price!

Favorite Features

- Best looking retro on the road, besides the Fiat 500 - Girls hanging out of their cars to wave at you - Same transmission as a Corvette and GT500 - Big brakes that work (Super Track Pak) - Grin inducing power - Turning off the radio to hear the V8 soundtrack - Blowing away imports that cost twice the price - Great mileage for a V8 - Regular gas (87 octane) - Inspiring handling - Turning off stability control (with Super Track Pak)

Suggested Improvements

- Super Track Pak (STP) is a bumpy ride - STP needs adjustable damping - Poor blind spot and rear visibility - Rear parking assist should be standard

Review

Last year I had difficulty in deciding whether to buy a Charger or Challenger. I bought the Charger and liked the Dodge product so much that this year I bought a Challenger. Both are RT's. The Charger was a better value but the Challenger is a great car. A lot of people want to compare the Challenger to the Camaro and Mustang. This is a huge mistake. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. For pure speed and handling the Challenger will never compete with the Camaro or Mustang. For comfort, room and road presence the Camaro and Mustang are not in the same class as the Challenger.I like all three cars and I am not brand loyal at all. I bought an RT Plus in Granite Metallic, just Beautiful

Favorite Features

The Granite Crystal Metallic paint is not only beautiful but perfect. It is amazing that Dodge can paint a car this good. The 20" Chrome Clad Wheels really add to the overall looks of the car. It is a big car but handles like it is much smaller.

Suggested Improvements

The exhaust is not muscular enough. I will probably change it. I installed a Corsa cat back exhaust on the Charger and it sounds great with no interior drone.
