Vehicle2011 Dodge Challenger 2dr Coupe (3.6L 6cyl 5A)
ReviewI waited 3 years for the Pentastar and it was well-worth the patience.
The engine delivers exceptionally smooth performance from idle all the way to redline.
Combined with a cabin that is very quiet, you'd almost think that the engine was turned-off while stopped at an intersection or light; I asked the salesman if the car had some sort of "engine shutdown" feature during the initial test-drive.
The big letdown is the 5-speed automatic, which lags badly when you need instant throttle response.
Excellent engine, not-so-great gearbox.
The Rallye Super Sport repsresents a good value with interior, suspension, steering, braking, and axle-ratio upgrades.
Best FeaturesEngine is lightweight, very powerful, smooth, quiet, efficient, and thoroughly modern. Rallye Super Sport is a high-value car that delivers performance of a LT-1 Trans-Am and luxury of a 300 C.
Worst FeaturesTransmission was fine in the Hemi 300/Magnum, but lacks in the newer applications; downright poor with the Pentastar. If you can get over the response lag and confused shifts, you'll love it. It's not much different that having a late 90's LT-1 powerhouse mated to the 4L80 four-speed slushbox!

I bought the 2011 base Dodge Challenger in april of this year. Since then i have put 11,000 miles on it, 3 oil changes. I know what the average MPG is, it is 32 MPG, this being driven most on long distance highway. To me the car has run flawless, i really like the idea of being able to run it in a manual mode or an automatic mode. Take it from me, this car is well worth the money.Report it

Yes the 2011 Challenger is a fun drive, I have put 16000 miles on since April 2011, 4 oil changes and 2 tire rotations, once in for warranty /security updates to key fob issues and dry rot on weather stripping along door jambs( That doesnt bode well ... it will be repaired under warranty. Mine has 3.6L Pentastar with 305 HP, tungsten metal, no decals. It will out do a GTO G8, the crossover BMW X3/X5, and a few other entry level "sport cars" I never has a issue with its performance as a retro pony car. My only complaint it is a B&tch to clean all the dead bugs off the windows after they committed suicide on the windshield after a 100mph+ run on the roads. This car is the most fun while having your pants on!Report it
