1991 Dodge Caravan: Where do the wires run for brake lights?
Everything in my 1991 Dodge Caravan mini-van has worked perfectly until yesterday afternoon. I installed a ladder rack on top of the van, and installed a shelfing unit on the floor in the van, running along the left side of the van. After installing these two items successfully, I jumped in the van, put my foot on the brake, and the fuse blew, as well as several others. ... Read More...

Re: Decisions,decisions,decisions [mazdax605]
Hi there, I have been using mini vans since 1991 for work. Primarily Daimler Chrysler products, as well as a couple Fords in the past! I have owned four Dodge Grand Caravans, a 91, 92, 98 and current, 02. I have never had a transmission issue, 2 of the 4 were AWD. Honda had a rash of transmission failures in that model year vehicle. That has been the biggest knock about ... Read More...

Re: Correlation of CR owner satisfaction [marine2]
had a 1993 Eagle Vision, the sister to the Intrepid. We kepted it until 2004 when we bought our Civic. The a/c went out in 2004, we replaced the rubber motor mounts in 2001. The clock spring in 2003. Those were the only things that went wrong in 11 years of owning that car. We are going on 16 months with our 2005 Dodge GC, and so far, have did nothing but changed the oil and ... Read More...

Auto shutdown relay - 3.0L 1991
I have a 1991 Dodge Caravan that has a mind of it's own. Here's some history. Two years ago it just died. I discovered that the fuel pump wasn't working. I replaced the fuel pump. Everything was fine for about a month and it just died, again. Sometimes it would start and sometime it wouldn't , but I couldn't trust it to go to the corner market. When I wasn't able to start ... Re: Why you shouldn't Buy A Dodge / Chrysler Voyager [johnbender]
Compared to someone I know who owns an Oddesy, our problems are overwhelming. He has over 100,000 miles on the Oddesy and he has never had the check engine light come on, he never had to replace a bad a/c compressor, brake light switch, or any of the other stuff. He even still has the original stock battery in the vehicle. The only maintence he has had to do is tires, ... Read More...

Caravan SXT
There is no such thing as a Caravan SXT. Dodge does offer an eL and eX trim which have a low dealer holdback and are not eligible for rebates or financing. The ES is caravan's flagship model that has been in production since at least 1991 and is the equivelant of the Town and Country LXi or Limited. Read More...

Bad Head on my 1991 Dodge Gr. Caravan
After reading message #1360, I understand your issue. My 1991 Gr. Caravan's rocker arm head mount broke away and began chattering. The cast somehow broke, and I ended up replacing the head with one from the junk yard. I think there may be a defect with engineering design. The van has run smoothly for 120,000 miles, but the cast should never have broken. Read More...
Last Caravan
I have to agree with dmathews3 about DC. In the past I have owned a 1991 Gr Caravan and have had a 1994 all wheel drive at work. I presently own a 1999 Grand Caravan ES and it will be the last. The others had their problems but it seemed the folks at Dodge were more open and willing to help. The 1991 went 185000 miles but got too expense to put any repairs into. The 1999 seems ... Number of vans sold...
Who really cares how many vans Honda or Chrysler sells. I have a Chrysler Town & Country Limited, and while it's nice that they sell well even though they have $2000-$3500 rebates, it's not going to be a deal breaker for me regarding how many more units they have sold compared to Honda, Ford, etc. Carelton, you used to have a Chevy Astro. You seem to speak well of them, ... Read More...

Off topic
New to this board, because I am looking to buy a new voyager. Just wanted to say that my 1991 dodge caravan se 3.0 is still running pretty good, with 166,000 miles on the engine. I have now turned it over to my youngest son. It has a few idiosyncracies but I live with it. Only have had two transmissions. I am so confident this car will go another 20000 miles. I have just ...
