Re: v50 2.4 lease [rumblebumble]

I would gladly pass along the name of my great salesman and sales manager, but this forum does not allow me to do so. Both of my vehicles were special factory orders, including features not available on NA market cars; they were great at going to bat for me with VNA and getting me the cars I wanted. They offer leases through Volvo Financial Services as well as US Bank and Chase. US Bank had the best deals by far, both last May, when I got my V50, and last December, when I got my S40. VFS is simply not competitive, plus they require a monthly escrow of your MA excise tax. Lease numbers change from month to month and vary from one model to another, so any info I have would be both out of date and not applicable to your model. In general, however, you should negotiate the net sale price first as if you were buying the car for cash outright, expect to get the car for at or close to invoice, and then get the entire current Volvo 3rd party lease subvention deducted from the net price to generate the cap cost used in calculating the lease. If you don't know what these terms mean, you need to do some homework before you go anywhere near a dealership. There are all kinds of creative ways to get screwed on a lease negotiation if you don't know what you are doing -- not that I think Farrell would do that to a customer. Focusing just on the monthly payment is always a mistake. Good luck and happy negotiating!

You might want to contact Farrell Volvo in Southboro. I have recently leased two Volvos from them (S40 and V50) and can highly recommend them for excellent lease pricing and straightforward honest no-hassle customer relationships. Can't say as much for the half dozen other Eastern MA dealerships that I contacted.

an update on the deal for this car, if anyone cares or has an opinion on it i would appreciate any help. I talked with the dealer and got him down a little. The MSRP is 33,000. They dropped it to 31,000 (invoice is 30,800). Then they took off the $6000 incentive so it comes down to 25,000 (but you have to have $995 in volvo/bank fees so the Net Cap is 25995). As for a net cap i think that is a very good deal. However, to get the $6000 off i have to go through volvo's outside lender who screws me with the residual and the money factor. the residual rate is 43% and the money factor is .00202 (or 4.92%). when you calculate it out, see below, at $0 down, it comes to about $408 a month pre-tax and 429 with 5% sales tax (MA) for a 36 month lease at 12,000 miles. MSRP- 33,014 x .43= 14196 25995 - 14196= 11, 798 11, 798/36= 327.95 25995 + 14196= 40191 x .00202= 81 327 + 81= 408 408 x .05 = 20 in tax a month 408 + 20= 429 a month with tax with $0 money down this seems like a decent deal to me, any opinions? does anyone think i can get them to drop it a little more (ie from 31,000 to say 30,000 or 30,500)?

10K off list?
by blckislandguy on Fri Sep 14 17:25:17 PDT 2007
I took a look tonight at a new '08 (see my post on the 2008 XC board) and was singularly unimpressed. Thinking that the currrent deal from Volvo was 10K off MSRP on '07s, I casually asked the sales guy if he would go 10K off list. Well, they called the dealer principal at home in RI (this is a small dealership in MA and the guy runs it from his boat, no joke). He came back with 7K off list. I thought that the present factory incentive was close to 10K off list on a purchase? What should I pay for a new '07 abeit now one year old XC? Please advise (although not a penny more than the dealer paid for it seems the best answer).
